They are “Make It With Morrow County” and “M en’s Bread Baking Contest” The “Make It With Morrow' C ounty” contest is a delicious apple wheat cake recipe. The contest is sponsored by the Morrow County Wheat Growers. For the recipe turn to page 62 in the Premium Book. The “ M en’s Bread Baking Contest” is in mem ory o f Mike Armato. It is d ed icated to M ik e ’s un ending quest for the perfect loaf o f bread. This contest is on page 63. So men let’s get to cooking and enter your favorite bread recipe. New events for 2008 fair New at the fair this year will be two cook-offs, the Big Cluck Grill-OPf and the Chili Cook-Off. The Big Cluck Grill-Off is on Thurs day, August 14, starting at 9 a.m. and ending around 4 p.m. It is sponsored by the Oregon Fryer’s Commission and is the second annual Oregon Fryer Commission’s Big Cluck Grill-Off. For in formation please see the last inside page o f the Premium Book (200) or contact the fair office.Ibe Chili Cook- Off will be on Friday, Au gust 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. Along with the 4-H Snack Shack, outside will be Fernando’s Mexican Food from Hermiston with delicious enchiladas, burritos, tacos, and much more. MW Tropical Sno will be serving as the shaved ice vendor this year. Operator Ed Worthen is from Waterville, WA. Come out and have a cool treat. The Carrillo’s from Milton-Freewater will be back again this year with their delicious elephant ears and ice cream desserts. This year Murray’s Drug will have espresso bar drinks-hot and cold. And don’t forget the Ice Cream Social sponsored by Columbia River Processing, Inc. o f Boardman. The fair board members will once again be serving. New this year Sweet Productions will be in the kitchen by the fair office with sandwiches, ice cream, fun nel cakes, etc. There will be plenty for all so come and try out the many different foods at the fair this year.
