Riots and violent demonstrations were ram pant due to racial segrega tion. hate crimes, and many other events. However, there was one voice o f sanity that stood out among the crow d beseeching people to stop the violence and come together as one instead of many. This man was instru mental in promoting peace during a very trying time. This man was Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929 in A tlanta, GA. He grew up to become a Baptist m inister promoting peace and harm ony am ong all races. In 1961 the F.B.L began wire tapping King’s phone in fear that he was trying to change American government from a Democ racy to communist nation due to one o f King’s friends being a known strong sup porter o f the com m unist movement. In 1963 King's pro motions of peace eventually lead to the March on Wash ington. It was here that King gave his famous speech that would change history. The speech was called "I Have a Dream.” This speech raised aw areness in the crow d. The company has been formed to develop a 40 acre parcel donated to the lone Education Foundation by the Mary Emert family. The lone Education Foundation and the lone Com m unity A gribusiness Organization (ICABO) have form ed the new co m p a ny and will hold shares of stock in the corporation. The board o f directors o f Grow lone Inc. are: Ed Rollins, Tim Holtz, Jerry Rietmann, Linda LaRue, Craig Hol land, S tacie M iller, and Howard Mullins. The board represents the lone Educa tion Foundation, ICABO, the lone City Council and the community at large. The directors are charged with the task of developing the property. Grow lone Inc. is off to a good start and will receive a grant from Morrow County, this grant will finance an engineer to develop a plan for the devel opment o f the property.
