Doan, 37, Terrebonne, open container o f alcohol, $185 fine. BobXton^ & Shirley Mae Whitney Shirley was bom on May 2, 1933 in John Day to Lee and Louisa M ar cus Fleming. She married Everett Whitney in Walla Walla, WA. She worked as a laundry operator at the VA Medical Center. S h irle y ’s fav o rite hobbies included crocheting afghans and cross stitching C h ristm as cards. W ords from her children are as fol lows, “Our loving mother/ granny passed away peace fully and will be deeply missed by her family and countless friends. Shirley is survived by: two daughters and sons- in-laws, Dianne and Tom Henrichs o f Richland, WA and Debbie and Rich Gibbs ofTacoma, WA; two sisters, C linta M ellor o f College Place, WA and Donna Lee Kimberling of Prairie City; and three grandchildren, Donovan Henrich o f Port land, Tatom H enrich o f Portland and Tyler Gibbs of Tacoma, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Everett Whitney in 2000, a sister, Lorraine Towne and a son, David Cox. Frank Rosenburg Frank Delbert Rosenburg, 53, died Friday, November 23, 2007 at Or egon Veteran's Home after a six-year battle with cancer. He was bom March 24, 1954 in Heppner, the son of Frances K. May and Robert G. Rosenburg. He attended school in Condon and The Dalles, graduating from Wahtonka High School in 1979. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served eight years in the Pacific, Guam, Philippines and was on the USS Kitty Hawk. During his second tour he was stationed in Australia. After he was discharged he worked for Bank of America and Iron M ountain as a com puter programmer. He recently moved to The Dalles to live with his mother. He is survived by: his mother, Frances K. May o f The Dalles; his father, R obert G. R osenburg o f H ood R iver; his sisters, Mary Anne Rosenburg and Pat Rosenburg; his broth ers, Jam es R osenburg o f Portland and Ted Rosenberg o f The Dalles; two nieces, A licia B ran d erh o rst and Lyndsey Rosenburg o f The D alles; his aunt, C leone Wagenaar o f Condon; great- uncle, Jack May o f The Dalles; two great-nieces, Kylie and Lanee; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by: his grandfather, Franklin May; his grand y a |fo y Lutheran to host potluck dinner J r On Sunday, December 16, Valby Lutheran Church will be transformed into the Bethlehem Inn, where the chil dren o f the congregation will be hosting a potluck “dinner theater” at 6 p.m. Dinner guests will have the opportunity to participate in the Christmas story. On Monday evening, December 17, an Advent soup and worship opportunity will be held at 6 p.m. Valby Lutheran Church will celebrate Christmas with a candlelight serv ice on Monday, December 24, at 6 p.m. Sunday worship continues weekly at 9 a.m. All are welcome. In lieu o f flow ers memorials may be made to Cancer Research or Animal Rescue Shelters. Scott H. McMurdo Scott H. McMurdo passed away on December 7, 2007 in Corvallis. He was bom March 19, 1920 in Heppner, the youngest o f four sons o f Dr. Archie and Ruth Hager McMurdo. He attended pub lic school is Heppner. After graduation, he followed two older brothers to Oregon State University where he affiliated with Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. His col lege education was inter rupted when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A fter serving one year at the U.S. Naval Hos pital in A storia and three y ears at the U .S. N aval Hospital in San Diego, CA, he served as a civilian em ployee for the U.S. G ov ernment at the hospital in Tripoli, North Africa. He returned to Or egon State and graduated with a degree in biochem istry. After completing the M edical Technology Pro gram at O .H .S .U , S cott became a certified medical technologist and established medical laboratories in both Grants Pass and Corvallis. He later worked many years as an independent financial broker. He m a rrie d J une Hackett on June 11, 1960 at Good Samaritan Church in C orvallis. Scott was a lifelong member of the Epis copal C h u rch i ncl udi ng more than 50 years at Good Samaritan. He was a 25 year volunteer with the American Cancer Society, a member of the Corvallis Country Club and Toastmasters Interna tional, both for more than 50 years. Scott was an avid read and, during retirement, spent four or five hours a day at the Corvallis Public Library. He enjoyed humor ous stories, golf, ping-pong, chess, and exercised nearly every day into his eighties. He trav eled extensively, including many European trips. His passion for cars was well known to all who knew him. Survivors include: his wife, June, o f Corvallis; his daughter, Ann McMurdo and her husband Ken Rud- erman; two grandchildren, Sarah and Justin Scott Rud- erman, all o f Oakland, CA; two older brothers, Charles (Ted) o f Portland and Ber nard o f G rants Pass; and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and their children. A memorial serv ice will be held on Saturday, December 15, at noon at the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Simon Justice and the Rev. Dr. Jon Goman. In lieu o f flowers, memo rial contributions may be made to the charity o f one’s choice. Gretchen was bom at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA. At birth she weighed seven pounds and eight ounces and was 20 Vi inches in length.
