He was 16. A celebration o f life service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Olney Cemetery. Another funeral ser vice will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Southridge High School in Beaverton. He was born May 8, 1991, in Pendleton, to Matthew Terjeson and Jan Peterson- Terjeson. He enjoyed fishing on the Grande Ronde and Columbia Rivers and com peting in science fairs and in the battle o f the book competition champion team at H aw thorne School in Pendleton. At Koko Head school in Honolulu, Hawaii, he won the Citizen o f the Year award and won an all expense paid trip to San Diego, Calif., to play in the world Pokemon tournament. He was ranked 58th in the world and third in the state o f Oregon. At Conestoga Mid dle School in Beaverton, Terjeson won the Citizen o f the Month award sev eral times, was selected for the rookie team for Lego Robotics and was awarded honors in the John Hopkins National Academic Talent Search. He enjoyed playing the trumpet and was selected to speak at his eighth-grade graduation. At Southridge High School in B eaverton, he excelled in Japanese, his tory, math and literature and worked the sound system for school m usicals. His peers voted him Duke o f Intellect for donating the most money for their sister school in Matale, Africa, to build a science lab. He was a mentor to young budding scientists and was a camp counselor for two years for Camp Invention. Terjeson was to be a junior and was working to w ard s earn in g the In ternational Baccalaureate diploma. He enjoyed Harry Potter, his friends and listen ing to technology podcasts. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Pendleton, Calvary by the Sea in Honolulu, Hawaii, and St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Beaverton. He is survived by his parents, Matthew J. Terjeson and Jan Peterson-Terjeson; sister Lydia Terjeson; grand parents B arbara H ale o f Pendleton, Herbert Peterson o f lone and James and Mari lyn Terjeson o f Pendleton; aunts Robin Terjeson and Elizabeth Peterson; uncles Todd Peterson and Treve Peterson; cousins Renee and Hay lie Peterson of lone; and extended family in Umatilla and Morrow Counties.
