Around 200 members participated from Umatilla, Echo, Stanfield, P ilo t R ock, lo n e and H eppner. All season Umatilla, lone and Heppner have d o m in ated m any individual events among the boys and girls teams in all league com petition. The weather, at times, was cold and w indy but did not dampen the efforts put forth. O u tstan d in g tim es and distances were turned in by many. Josh Williams had a spectacular day winning first place in three events and tying a school record of 12.06 set by Alex Lindsay in 1982. This is one o f the o ld est stan d in g jr. high records, many boys have come close, but Josh is the only one to tie it and share the honor. “ He is a very gifted runner,” said Coach Susie Hisler. He also won the long jump first time jumping all season with 15’ 10 Vi”, and first in the 200m, 27.09. Nick Kempas had an outstanding day with second in the 400m, second in the 100 with 12.32 moving him to fourth on the all time list, and winning the 200m with a 25.12 and a new school record.
