Farrens, due to his interest in politics, was interviewed for an internship with our representative Greg Smith. The internship took place in Salem at the State Capital building. According to R.J., Greg Smith went above and beyond introducing the world of politics to him. R.J. sat in on sessions while bills were getting passed, with Mr. Smith right there explaining every step o f the way, making sure R.J. got the most out of the experience. R.J receiv ed the opportunity to testify on a House Bill in front of the judiciary committee. The bill dealt with freedom of speech in high school and college newspapers. R.J. stated that Greg Smith’s willingness to m ake sure he had an understanding of the political world, was unmatched by any o th er d istric t representative. R.J. plans to attend University of Oregon where he plans to take new steps in furthering his education in the world of politics. HHS student qualifies for National FBLA conference Two students and a teacher made their way to the FBLA state leader ship conference in Port land on April 4, 5 and 6 and brought home a win. A shley W olff placed second in the en tire state for her event (In troduction to Business) and qualifies to represent the state of Oregon at the National FBLA confer ence in Chicago, IL in late June (June 28-July 1). Donations will be accept ed from individuals and Ashley Wolfe brings home award and plans for trip to businesses to help fund the trip to the windy city. The drama is based on a true story. Each showing is limited to 100 seats. Ladies Play Day held at WCCC The Willow Creek Country Club Ladies Play Day was held Tuesday, April 10. Tw enty ladies braved the brisk early morn ing air, and frosty car win dows, to enjoy the breakfast, cooked and served by the ladies’ board. The spring business meeting was held, followed by scramble team play, with 18 ladies partici pating. The officers for 2007 are: President, Luvilla Son- Benefit Mexican dinner and auction to be held A Mexican dinner and auction benefit will be held for Roy Proctor on Saturday, April 2 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish Hall. Roy was diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. The transplant is scheduled to happen in New York. The cost is $5 per person. Roy’s 2006 HHS classmates and community members are organizing this event. MaryAnn Elguezabal, Roberta Lutcher, and Dora Collins are organizing the dinner. Anyone unable to attend and would like to make a donation to the Proctor family, an account has been set up at the Bank of Eastern Oregon under "The Proctor Family Medical Fund."
