She joined more than 150 o th e r P acific students in achieving this high academic honor. To qualify for the dean’s list in the College of Arts and Sciences, a student must achieve a term GPA of 3.70 with 12 or more graded hours. “Earning their name on the dean’s list at Pacific University is an honor for the student and for Pacific,” said Pacific University President Dr. Phil C re ig h to n . “ It exemplifies the caliber of students and the programs offered at the University.” Texas Hold’em Poker and Bingo Night a success The winners of the Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament: Lto R: Kim (iuterriez won third place Ed Rollins won first place, Ryan Bennetto won second place, and Marcus Collier won fourth place. The new permanent display about the tragic flood in Willow Creek V alley is called “Days of Sorrow.” It and the entire Morrow County Heritage Museum and the Morrow County Ag Museum will he open to the public March 16 and 17 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is free with donations welcomed. Kids enjoy petting zoo Members of the Heppner FFA Chapter hosted a free petting zoo for the Heppner Elementary School children. Students from kindergarten through the fourth grade walked over to the Wilkinson Arena to check out the noisy and cuddly creatures. Jessica Hughes. Josie Miller, Jason Wainwright, Kendra Rayburn. Torri Lovgren and Dalton Wellman talked to the kids about the animals, which included: a horse, pony, bottle calves, a yearling heifer, bummer lambs, a yearling ewe, a hen chicken and a couple goats. Heppner FFA Advisor Beth Dickenson said. “The kids loved it- the high school students loved meeting the younger kids, talking to them about the different animals and leading them around on pony rides; w hile the elementary students were just so excited about seeing the animals up close (and the older kids) as well as sharing stories of their experiences with animals.” It was a great opportunity for everyone! The volunteers at the tw o M orrow C ounty museums in Heppner have been busy again. On Main Street, next ro the City Park and Oregon Trail Library, the Morrow County Heritage Museum presents its new. permanent d isp lay about the 1903 H eppner/W illow C reek Valley flood called “Days of Sorrow,” a title right from the headlines of the 1903 H eppner G azette-T im es. A lso new this year is a geology display in the lobby prepared by Dave and Neva D eM ayo. S everal o th e r exhibits have been added to and revamped. Try some great party n ines! « E v ery o n e who atten d ed the 3rd annual Texas Hold’em Poker and Bingo N ight at the lone American Legion Hall on Saturday, March 10th had fun. The winner of the Texas H o ld ’em Poker was Ed Rollins. Second place went to Ryan B ennetto. Kim Gutierrez placed third and Marcus Collier was fourth. Many players were able to shout “BINGO" and enjoy the fun of winning. Some people came to just visit with friends and enjoy a sub-sandwich and salad. They had a good time just catching up on family and community life. Fred Sherman was the winner of the gun raffle. M any gun e n th u siasts coveted this beautiful Marlin 22 Rifle and bought tickets hoping they would be the lucky w inner. Fred can hardly wait for hunting season to come. Bob Perry and Harold Holtz donated the gun. The Sternwheeler sinner cruise raffle package was for two people. This was donated by Lloyd McNary and won by Jean Jepsen. An added selection this year was the home baked rolls, cakes, co o k ie, pies and o th er g o o d ies. S m iles and happiness accompanied the reading of the names of the successful bidders. This sale was p o p u la r and many people went home with their hom em ade treats w ith a smile on their faces. The lone American Legion Post #95 Legion and Auxiliary Unit host this fun ev en in g an n u ally . The proceeds of this sale will allow the some of their many projects to be funded and the hall to be m ain ta in ed throughout the year.
