permanent display about the tragic flood in Willow Creek
V alley is called “Days of Sorrow.” It and the entire Morrow

Kids enjoy petting zoo
Members of the Heppner FFA Chapter hosted a
free petting zoo for the Heppner Elementary School
children.
Students from kindergarten through the fourth
grade walked over to the Wilkinson Arena to check out
the noisy and cuddly creatures. Jessica Hughes. Josie Miller,
Jason Wainwright, Kendra Rayburn. Kelsie Fox. Brynna
Rust. Torri Lovgren and Dalton Wellman talked to the kids
about the animals, which included: a horse, pony, bottle
calves, a yearling heifer, bummer lambs, a yearling ewe, a
hen chicken and a couple goats.
Heppner FFA Advisor Beth Dickenson said. “The
kids loved it- the high school students loved meeting the
younger kids, talking to them about the different animals
and leading them around on pony rides; w hile the
elementary students were just so excited about seeing the
animals up close (and the older kids) as well as sharing
stories of their experiences with animals.” It was a great
opportunity for everyone!
