SIX - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, November 15,2006 Sheriff's Report The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office reports han dling the following business: Nov. 7: -M C SO arrested Ruben Moreno, 30, for failing to appear for driving while suspended. -MCSO received a second report about a tire on the freew ay betw een milepost 172 and 173 EB. The tire was later removed. -M C SO and BPD received a report that there was a car parked in the residence’s driveway. The motion lights woke up the reporter. -MCSO received a report that the reporter’s 15- y ear-o ld d a u g h ter was receiving stalking e-mails. -M C SO w arned a driver for speeding. -MCSO received a report that a male subject had two o f three m ovies owned by the reporter and would not return them. The reporter requested contact because she had sent him a registered letter, but there had been no response. -MCSO received a report about a suspicious vehicle parked on Alpine Road in Lexington. -MCSO received a rep o rt from A m erican Recovery that advised they had rep o sse sse d a 2004 Black Ford Excursion in Heppner. -MCSO received a request from D ouglas County Sheriff’s Office for a warrant service attempt for a 28-year-old male subject. -M CSO arrested Michael Lewis Dodge, 43, for Harassment and Criminal Trespassing I. -MCSO received a request for contact regarding a child custody issue. The reporter from Heppner was having a problem w ith L aG rande P olice Department; she was afraid they were going to pick up her kids over there. -MCSO received a report that the reporter from Irrigon wanted her mother arrested because she violated the restraining order. -MCSO received a report about a van that was all over the road. The call was transferred to OSP. -MCSO received a report that an attem pted UEMV had occurred. The re p o rte r rep o rted that someone attempted to gain entry via a screwdriver. -MCSO received a report about a brown and white cocker spaniel that was at the re p o rte r’s residence. The owner was unknown. -MCSO released a warning to subjects for their dog at large. There was no license and no p ro o f of insurance. -MCSO received a rep o rt from a S h e riff regarding graffiti on a power box located on the west of Millers Crossing in Irrigon. -MCSO received a report about graffiti on a power pole box in Irrigon. -MCSO received a co m p la in t ab o u t two C hihuahua dogs running loose on 14th S treet in Irrigon. MCSO warned the owners of the dog. -MCSO received a report that someone broke into the sub station and there is p o ssib le th eft. The reporter requested contact. -M CSO assisted a disabled vehicle, -MCSO received a report about a female subject w ho w as leav in g her residence in her utility trailer and the reporter had heard there was a warrant after her arrest. -MCSO received a report that Hermiston PD a rre ste d Je n n ife r Rene Jimenez, 29, for failing to pay fine for C rim in al Mischief II. -M C SO issu ed a c ita tio n to K im berly R achelle M oody for maintaining a dog as a public nuisance. -MCSO received a report that there were people on the reporter’s property. -MCSO received a call from Umatilla County re g a rd in g a p ow er line sparking in front o f the G reen A cres RV Park in Irrigon. Umatilla Electric was dispatched. -BPD a ssisted a general fire alarm on 750 C olum bia Ave Ne in Boardman. -BPD receiv ed a report with the male reporter advising that another male cam e in and took his ex girlfriend's jewelry. -B PD receiv ed a report about male subjects that were possibly trying to break into the rep o rter's vehicle. -BPD warned a 48- year-old male subject for failing to obey a Traffic Control Device. -BPD a ssisted an alarm going o ff in Boardman. All doors were secure. -B PD a ssisted a disabled vehicle. -B PD re c eiv e d a false fire alarm report. - H e p p n e r Ambulance and lone EMS received a report about a three-year-old male choking on a piece o f m eat in Heppner. The caller called again and reported he had coughed most of the meat up and just continued to cough for a while. Nov. 8: -M C SO received a report that a red 2005 Ford Pickup refused to stop for a d eputy after running through a stop sign. There was a pursuit into Umatilla County. -M CSO advised a male subject to stop making harassing phone calls to the reporter. -MCSO received a report that a freightliner truck was parked on WB on ramp to 1-84 from Hwy. 730. Stroll Heppner on November 30 Stroll Heppner and the 10th annual Parade of Lights will be held Thursday, Nov. 30. People may “stroll” Heppner all day and visit businesses, view Christmas trees and gingerbread houses, visit the Heppner City Hall open house and listen to carolers. Pictures with Santa will be taken at city hall from 4:30-6 p.m. The Christmas tree lighting will be held on Main Street at 5:30 p.m. The Parade of Lights starts at 6 p.m. Individuals, families, businesses and out-of-town entries are invited to enter the parade. Entrants will line up at 5 p.m. at the Green Feed and Seed store. The parade will go through town twice. Prizes will be awarded for the following: best community float. $75; best commercial float, $75; best individual float, $75; and best school float. $75. Entry forms may be picked up at the Chamber office, or the entry form on page two of this issue of the G-T may be used. The Pioneer Memorial Home Health and Hospice/ Heppner Chamber of Commerce tree auction and raffle will take place immediately following the parade. Tree raffle tickets are one for $1, six for $5, and 30 for $20. CSEPP donates security cameras to Irrigon Schools continued from page I surveillance within the zone and will also monitor the perim eter of these zones. The cameras will connect through the district’s fiber to a central server running software which is accessible via the internet. The system is expandable to up to 50 cameras per server. A ccording to inform ation supplied by Intermountain Technology, the cameras, on a normal b asis, are fixed at a predetermined position and record to the server when motion is detected. In the event of an emergency, a school official, public safety o ffice r or em ergency perso n n el can access cameras through the Internet to exam ine the situation. They can then take control of the camera to zoom in and identify students, staff, and perpetrators and can even zoom in to read license plates. Inter mount ai n Technology estimated that the p ro ject w ould cost a p p ro x im ately $41,608 including $8,760 for server licen sin g ; an ad d itio n al $ 1,500 for a yearly software upgrade; and an additional $ 18,570 for contractor costs for ACH, Irrigon Jr./Sr. High, Irrigon Elementary and MEC for a grand total of $61,678. The board also heard a safety report from ACH Principal John Sebastian and d iscu ssed cu rren t procedures in place in the event of an armed intruder or other emergency at one of the schools and plans for possible improvement and u p d atin g of those procedures. In the event of a chemical emergency, the schools in Irrigon would be on automatic lock-down and no one could enter or leave the school buildings until the emergency passes. In other business, the board: -toured the Morrow E d u catio n C en ter and presented an award to their staff. They were honored for their alternative education program and for greatly increasing enrollment and improving attendance. -heard a report from board Chair Craig Miles on the Oregon School Board A ssociation G overnance Committee, of which he is a member. -ap p ro v ed a cooperative sponsorship for softball between Heppner High School and lone High School. -accep ted and recognized CSEPP for their gift for Irrigon schools. -ap p ro v ed policy w hich p ro h ib its staff, students and guests from connecting any hardware, St. Patrick’s Senior Center news The menu for the Wednesday, Nov. 22, noon meal at the H eppner St. Patrick’s Senior Center will be a Thanksgiving dinner of roast turkey; dressing and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, fresh, hot bread, and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Members of the H ope and Valby Lutheran churches will be serving.
