Sheriff’s Office to begin charging for false alarms M orrow C ounty Sheriff's Office will now be charging a fee for responding to false alarms, business and re sid e n tia l, in M orrow County. You will be allowed one false alarm per month with no charge, but for the rem ainder o f that month, each additional false alarm will cost you $50. PMH Foundation announces scholarship winners The scholarship in memory of longtime local Dr. W allace W olff was created by his fam ily to assist students in the medical field. This year's award in the amount of $1000 will go to Trisha Adams. Adams graduated from H eppner High School in 2000 and went on to graduate summa cum laude from Albertson College in 2004. She was accepted in medical school at OHSU in the fall of 2005 and is completing her first year of study in her quest for her d o c to r o f m ed icin e degree. She is the daughter of Mike and Toni a Adams of Heppner. The foundation also awarded seven awards in the name o f Earl and Hazel Wilson, a pioneer family from the lone area that were b e n efac to rs of the foundation that desired to assist stu d en ts in th eir pursuit of a career in the medical field. Shelley Rietmann was awarded $500 to assist her in graduate school for a degree in doctor of physical therapy. R ietm ann is a graduate of Heppner High School and will graduate from Pacific University this spring. She is the daughter of Mark and Tammy Rietmann of Heppner. S hanna R ietm ann was awarded $400. She is attending Pacific University with a goal of furthering her career in the medical field either in nursing, or perhaps as a physician’s assistant. She is the daughter of Mark and Tammy Rietmann. Dan Basile received a $250 scholarship at his graduation from Heppner High School. Basile plans to atten d E astern O regon University to study in their pre-dentistry program. He is the son of Joe and Debbie Basile of Heppner. Amy Jepsen was awarded a $250 scholarship upon her graduation from lone High School. She will be atten d in g C entral Washington University with a course of study in dental hygiene. She is the daughter of Bill and Nancy Jepsen of lone. She is the daughter of Craig and Tawny Miles of Heppner. Laurie Murray was awarded a scholarship of $250 at the Heppner High graduation. Murray’s goal is to pursue either pre-med or pre-pharmacy. She is the daughter of John and Ann Murray of Heppner. Heather Rill received an award of $250 to assist in her goal o f becom ing a dental hygienist. She plans to attend Oregon Institute of T echnology. She is the d au g h ter o f D ean and Patricia Rill of Heppner. The P ioneer M em orial Foundation is pleased to m ake these awards to help enable these students to study in the field o f health care. The foundation is governed by a sev en -m em b er board of d ire c to rs. The cu rren t directors are Betty Brown, Linda LaR ue, M elissa Lindsay, Sheree Mahoney, Shanny Miller, Larry Mills and Glen Ward. The fo undation recently received a very generous bequest from the estate of Robert Campbell of Lexington. Campbell was a lifelo n g re sid en t o f the county, having farmed in the Lexington area until his retirement. His generosity will enable the foundation to assist in m aking improvements to the quality of health care in the area and is deeply appreciated. Blood drive to be held in Boardman The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive in B oardm an on Monday, June 12 from 1-6 p.m . at the G reen field Grange. Tillam ook C ounty C ream ery A sso c ia tio n (TCCA ) aw arded K ristal Temple of Lexington with its $ 2 0 0 0 E x c ellen ce in Leadership Scholarship. Temple will attend Western Oregon University and study sign language and mathematics education. She w as a m em ber o f the National Honor Society, the varsity tennis team, bowling team and recently served as the assistant m anager for Cardinal Concessions. Temple’s community in v o lv em en t in clu d es w orking w ith C h ristian Youth in Action as a teacher and serving meals at the H ep p n er S e n io r C enter. R ecen tly she has been working as a teacher's aide at the local e lem en tary school. Temple graduated from lone High School. She is the d a u g h ter o f Dr. Richard and Karen Temple. A co m m ittee co m p rised o f TC C A em ployees from both the Boardman and Tillam ook lo c atio n s re v ie w ed the scholarship applications. E ligible ap p lican ts w ere required to be a graduating high school senior attending Heppner, lone or Riverside high schools and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Students were required to submit an application, transcript and answer a leadership-based essay question. The $2000 scholarship was aw arded based on e x ce lle n ce in leadership, community and school involvem ent and scholastic achievement. Over the Tee Cup Twenty-one ladies gathered on May 30 for ladies' play at Willow Creek Country Club. Jan Paustian took low g ro ss o f the field . V irginia G ran t, Ju an ita Martin and Ann Elgin tied for low net of the field. Betty Christman had least putts of the field. In flight A, Karen Bishop had low gross, Eva Kilkenny had low net and Loa Henderson had least putts and long drive. In flig h t B, Lois Hunt had low gross, Luvilla Sonstegard had least putts and C hristm an had long drive. In flight C, Lorrene Montgomery had low gross, Suzanne Jepsen had low net, Pat D ougherty had least putts and Elgin had long drive.
