Twelve teams participated in Mr. Bill’s Traveling Trivia Contest in Heppner on April 1. This is the second year the trivia contest has come to Heppner. Monies raised from the contest go to support Heppner Chamber of Commerce marketing. The winning team was the “Moneymakers” of Bank of Eastern Oregon. They won “On the Road Trivia” CDs. The second place team was “Short Circuit Court,” sponsored by Kuhn and Spicer. To help them try to conquer next year, the team won the encyclopedia on CDs. The last place team. Brains. Brawn and Brilliance, won crying towels (little towels embroidered with “I lost at the 2006 Trivia Contest.” Morrow County Sheriff’s Association Class of 2009 to endorses Elizabeth Ballard for hold fundraiser Morrow County District Attorney The Class of 2009 is The Morrow County S h e riff’s A sso ciatio n an nounced today its endorsement of Elizabeth Ballard for Morrow County D istric t A ttorney. Association President John B ow les said, “ E lizabeth supports our arrests and aggressively works towards p ro se cu tio n , w hile u n d erstan d in g M orrow County’s budgetary and jail space concerns. You can always count on Elizabeth to get the job done. Elizabeth w orks «hard to com bat domestic violence and drug crim es. She understands how m etham phetam ine affects the children, families and c itiz en s o f M orrow County.” Ballard has served as Morrow County Deputy District Attorney since 2002. The S h e riff’s Association comprises the local Teamsters Union No. 223 and consists of Morrow C ounty S h e riff patrol deputies, communications deputies, records and civil service. The endorsement compliments previous law enforcement endorsements for Elizabeth Ballard from the B oardm an C h ie f o f Police and Morrow County juvenile director. Ballard was pleased to receive the endorsement of local law enforcement. “ 1 am proud of the positive w orking relationship the Morrow County Sheriff’s D epartm en t and I have developed. I look forward to continuing my work with the Sheriff's Department and all law enforcement as Morrow County District Attorney.” Summer camps for blind youth and adults offered Last year, people from all over the U nited States had the “time of their life” enjoying a full week of activities, peer support and personal growth. Fees for the entire week are $350, with some “Camperships” available to O regon and W ashington residents, on a needs and fund-availability basis. The camp will be held Aug. 5-12 for adults and Aug. 19- 25 for youth. The foundation campus is located three miles north of Sandy. Activities offered include horseback rid in g , sw im m ing, hot tubbing, competitive games, crafts, entertainment, great food and fun. For an additional fee you can have the wood delivered. The class is raising money to pay for their school activities by providing a service for the community. Man found dead on Boardman Sheriff’s Report on-ramp Kenneth Smith, 74, of Florence, OR was found dead March 31,2006, when Boardman PD officer Chad C ham berlin was flagged down and received a report o f a man slum ped o v er behind the steering wheel of a vehicle parked on the Boardman eastbound on- ram p o f 1-84. In itial investigation found no signs of foul play. U ndersheriff Steve M yren, M orrow C ounty Sheriff’s Office, assisted in the investigation and acted as the D eputy M edical E xam iner. Dr. W enberg, M orrow County M edical Examiner and the Morrow County DA’s Office were advised. Tickets are $50 for a single dinner, which includes a PF membership and 10 raffle tic k e ts. A couple is $65.
