D riving here (to H ep p n er) is a gorg eo u s ride,” says Tanner. “I love living in different places.” “I’ve never lived in a place I d id n 't like.” D efinitely a “ people p erso n ”, Tanner says she especially enjoys the people at her new position and says that she someday may consider teaching. She is also considering obtaining more specific training in her field, although that would p ro b ab ly be “ som etim e down the road” . C lark B raden G erking ,79, of Heppner, Oregon passed away July 15, 2005, at the Veteran’s H ospital in NValla NValla, NVashington.A grav esid e service was held Thursday, July 21, at C anyon C ity Cemetery with Pastor Denny Diezel officiating. Mr. G erk in g was born Ju ly 27, 1925, at Heppner to Lillis DeFranca Slaughter Gerking and Mart Braden Gerking of Ritter. Clark grew up on the family cattle and horse ranch near Ritter. He attended school at Three Mile, Ritter and Althena. He served in the U.S. Army during WNVII. Upon his return he continued ranching. He owned and operated one of his father’s ranches near Ritter. He sold out and moved to Hermiston about 1962. He m arried Geraldine Kincaid June 15, 1972, at P ro sser, NVashington.Together they liv ed at H erm isto n and Dayville, Oregon. He later moved from Dayville back to H erm isto n and then to H eppner w here he m ost recently lived. In his early years, Clark liked to fish and hunt. He did enjoy reading and visiting w ith fam ily and friends. He was proceeded in death by both parents and wife, Geraldine. He is survived by one sister, Betty A. Roach of F o ssil, O reg o n , a very sp ecial frien d , A lb erta Johannes of Heppner, four step-children, Dan Radon of M erlin , O reg o n , L arry Radon of Kamiah, Idaho, C h ristin e Shull of Stevensville, Montana, and C h arlo tte P ap in eau o f A u ro ra, C o lo rad o , and numerous grandchildren and several cousins.
