FOUR - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, November 10, 2004 Cards finish season in second place season game against Falls City 56-48 The first regular season game was against the Dufur R angers, a powerhouse in the Big Sky Conference The Cardinals trailed at halftime 24-16, but once again were able to come from behind and win 42-38 The game-winning touchdown was a 73-yard pass on a fourth and three with 1:11 remaining in the game The Cardinals’ only loss o f the season came at Wasco County, 66-40 The final three gam es o f the season the Cardinals trailed, but w ere able to rally, beating Condon 36-32, Echo 54-36 and again getting by Echo in a non-conference game 32-26. Sara Peck had six points, one ace, 45 passes, 20 hits, six kills, four blocks and three set assists. Alyssa Rietmann brought five points, 45 passes, 15 hits, three kills, two blocks and two set assists. Abby Key had three points, 27 passes and four set assists. Others contributing were Stephanie Holland with 36 passes, two blocks, one set assist, eight hits and two kills; Amber Patton with 10 passes, 11 hits, three kills and three blocks; Kim Morris with three hits and three passes; Barbara Holland with 13 passes, three hits, one kill, two blocks and one set assist; and Kylee Svetich with four passes The state tournament will be held at Springfield High School in Springfield on Nov. 12 and 13. The Lady Cardinals defeated Condon at home in five games on Tuesday, Nov. 2. lone came out slow and made many unforced errors in the first two games and lost 20-15 and 18-25. They came back determined to win in the next three games and won 25-22, 25-15 and 15-6. Alyssa Rietmann led the team with 15 points, two aces, 40 passes, one block, nine set assists, 17 passes and five kills. Jenny Griffith followed with 11 points, three aces, 43 passes, 12 hits and two kills. Sara Peck added eight points, two aces, 36 passes, six set assists, 22 hits and five kills. Ashly Grams and Stephanie Holland had six points each. Grams also had two aces, six hits, 21 passes and 75 set assists. Holland had two aces, 25 passes, three blocks and five set assists. Abby Key had four points, eight passes and 23 set assists. Emily Rietmann had two points, eight passes and 16 set assists. Others contributing were Amber Patton with 16 passes, five hits, two kills and three blocks; Kim Morris with seven hits, five kills, four passes and two blocks; and Barbara Holland with three hits, two passes and two blocks.
