(s) Duane Jones Pastor of Heppner Nazarene Church lone Booster Club plans raft trip T he C ardinal Booster Club is organizing a one-day, action-packed whitewater raft trip down the D eschutes R iver on Sunday, Aug. 1. The six- hour, 18-mile river trip is available for a discounted ■rate of $70 per person. The adventure begins at Harpham Flats near M aupin at 10 a.m. Participants will tackle a series of Class III and IV rap id s, including the infamous Box Car, before stopping at M aupin City Park for a delicio u s barbecue steak and chicken lunch. The trip continues through Oak Springs where participants can body surf the elevator rapids. The final five-mile stretch includes the ch allen g in g W reck Rapids and calmer waters with spectacular views of high desert rock formations and w ildlife. The trip is sponsored by Sage Canyon R iver C om pany who p rovides ex p erien ced , friendly guides on all rafts.
