Mustang JVs lose to Tigers 19-9 By Rick Paullus Ten errors, nine walks and eight hits added up to a 19-9 lo ss by the H e p p n e r M ustang JV s to the Stanfield Tigers on M onday, A pril 28, in Stanfield. T he M ustangs dropped to 8-3 on the year and will play their last game o f th e y e a r at P e n d le to n on Thursday, M ay 8, at 4 p.m . The Tigers jum ped out quick taking a 5-0 lead after one, but the M ustangs cam e back w ith tw o runs in the second when Robert W halen re a c h e d on an error, K yle Carlson singled and both came hom e on a Sloan K eithley single. Eight more runs by the Tigers increased their lead to 13-2. However, the Mustangs cam e back w ith four o f their ow n in the th ird w hen C ody W alton reached on an error; D an B a s ile re a c h e d on a fielder’s choice; Trevor Rhea scored tw o w ith a single; Ben Turrell singled; Carlson had a RBI single and Keithley was hit by a pitch w ith the bases loaded to bring in another run. The M ustangs im proved to 4-0 in the CBC and 13-3 overall and w ill p la y a t S ta n fie ld on Saturday, M ay 10, in a double header at 11 a.m ., and will host Pilot R ock on Tuesday, M ay 13, at 4:30 p.m. The M ustangs scored seven runs in the first w hen C huy Elguezabal led o ff with a double and scored on a Josh W inters’ double to centerfield. Mustang JVs fall short against Rocket By Rick Paullus The - H eppner Mustang JV baseball team fell behind, 7-1, in the fifth but cam e back to get w ithin one falling 9-8 to the Pilot Rock R ockets on Friday, M ay 2 in Heppner. The M ustangs fell to 8-4 on the year with their final g a m e a t P e n d le to n on T hursday, M ay 8, at 4 p.m. T he R ockets scored four in the third and added another run in the fourth before the M ustangs got on the board in the bottom h alf w hen Kyle Carlson tripled and scored on a Robert W halen single. T he R ockets led 7-1 going into the bottom o f the fifth when the Mustangs began their com e back. Cody Walton w as h it b y a p itc h , s to le second and scored on a Dan B asile double. T revor Rhea reached on an error to score Basile, Kory Paullus hit a RBI triple and scored on a balk to m ake it 7-5.
