SIX - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, April Artist a ™ page 1 development ot the Heppner community is well known by many families descended from the men and women who brought the industry to the Willow Creek Valley. Many other families also realize the im pact th is p ro m in en t enterprise had on the shaping of the culture and o f the retail and services segments o f the society. The next mural will deliver this message clearly. To finance the mural, the committee is accepting free-will donations and will be offering limited-edition prints of Robert Walton’s new work. Additionally, the committee is now suggesting the “Piece of H e rita g e ” program for individuals who wish to make a small investment in the project. For $ 10, a person can sponsor the painting o f one square foot o f the new mural. At $10 per square foot, a sm all donation can thus contribute importantly to the completion o f the mural. The committee anticipates that some people will sponsor one foot each and some will sponsor several. One person has sponsored three square feet of the painting, one for each family member, and has said that she will be contacting siblings who once lived in Heppner to suggest that they also donate to the “piece o f heritage” program. Upon completion o f the Main Street and the sheep industry murals, a plaque at the on-site kiosk will list names of the contributors to the projects. In clu d ed am ong those contributors’ names will be the “piece of heritage” sponsors. For more information or to m ake a d o n atio n to the project, and to sponsor square feet of the mural, call Louis and Betty Carlson, 676-5302, Betty Mills, 676-5546, or the staff of Klamath First Federal.
