Diana McElligott had 14 p oints, five a ssists and four steals. N atalie M cElligott also scored 14 points, and A shly Gram s added 11 points. Barbara Holland had nine points and 12 rebounds, Tracy Griffith and Sara Peck each had six points, Emily Key chipped in three points and Jenny Griffith added two points. The Cardinals used their large lead to allow the younger players to get som e court tim e and it was nice to catch a glimpse into the future. “We have a lot o f young talent; it is nice to be able to p la y th e m ,” s a id C o a c h Dennis Stefani. Billy Gates exploded for the Cardinals with tour 3-pointers to give him a gam e high o f 19 points. Kelly Thom pson had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and rounding out the double-digit g ro u p , T y ler B row n had 11 points and eight assists. Karl M o rg a n h a d e ig h t p o in ts , Andrew Rietmann had six, Mike Radie, Nick Christman and Tyler Raible had four points apiece and Cayle Krebs added three points. H eppner’s St. Patrick’s Com m ittee is on a dead run to make sure they keep at least a step ah ead o f the m ischievous leprechauns! The committee continues to focus on m a k in g th e e v e n t o n e th a t promotes the area, and benefits not only local businesses but the many organizations throughout the Willow Creek Valley. T his year the annual a u c tio n w h ic h fu n d s th e entertainment, teen dance, sheep dog trials, button production, Cruz-in, entertainm ent, parade and publicity will be headed up by the Parents Club. They will work with the Committee and the C ham ber to m ake this the best auction ever and in return will receive one forth o f the auction proceeds. F ather G erry C ondon will be presenting theater again on Thursday, M arch 13. The St. Pat’s Calendar o f Events is now on ww w .H eppner.net and the schedule o f events will be “hot o ff the press” very soon. Start thinking now about parade entries and wearing o ’ the green, when the Irish and the Irish for a w e e k e n d c o m e to g e th e r in Heppner. S a tu rd a y n ig h t entertainment will feature Tiller’s Folly from Canada. Funds were n o t r e q u e s te d fro m th e Recreation District this year, so there will be a charge o f $ 10 for a d u lts an d $5 for c h ild re n . Tickets will go on sale and seating w ill be lim ite d . O th e r entertainment such as the coffee hour, Ceili, and Sheepdog Trials will be free to the public. The Cardinals found their legs though in the second half and outscored the Grizzlies 38-9 to take a 57-26 victory. N atalie M cElligott led lo n e w ith 20 p o in ts, D iana M cElligott follow ed with 12 points shooting eight for eight from the free throw line.
