Betty Pettyjohn. 4-10-lp A gracious thank%: to the cast and production staff of “Patrick - Apostle of Ireland”; To all who attended-your pres ence and enthusiasm encouraged the rest of us. The event was a financial suc cess and so all profit from both lone and Heppner has been given to the lone Youth Group and the Heppner Neighborhood Center. Fr. Gerry Condon 4-10-lp We would like to thank every one that bought tickets for our raffle we had for St. Patrick’s. A special thank you to Morrow County Grain Growers and St. Pat’s Senior Center for letting us set up in their facility. Dorothy Edwards won the t.v., Virginia Grieb won the quilt and Arletha Brannon won the photo album. Board of Directors and Coordinator of Neighborhood Center of South Morrow County ____________________ 4-10-lc I’m back Chris! Through rain, shine preferably, or unfortunately, snow... the Hep pner DayCare/Preschool came through for the children and adults who wanted to have some St. Paddie’s winter fun. We prof ited $570! Two hundred more than last year. Terrific! We didn't work alone; we had help from Bert and Kim with Central Red Apple Market, Dave with Frito Lay, Tim Adams Dis tributing, Darrell with Bank of EO, Frank Jones as the lepre chaun, Molly Rhea with St. Pat’s Committee for the leprechaun suit, Bob DeSpain, Jennifer and Tim Jaca, Arletha Brannon, Jeff Eynetich, Loren Unruh, Willow Creek Water Park, City Crew of Heppner, St. Patrick’s Church, Brian, Susie. Emily and Stephen Thompson, Lott’s Electric, Becky Kindle, Susie Re, Nick Kempas, Mary Haguewood, Tracey and Deana Hendricks, Shirley Judd, Dave Kendrick, Mike, Kim, Mag gie and Joe Armato, Stephanie and Lindsay Cutsforth, Keri Mar tin, Nate Arbogast, Sue Gibbs, Carrie Grieb^ Deirdra Allen, Kathleen Greenup, Angie Hugh es, Liz Pettibone, Carol Will- hoite, Tiffany Workinger, Kay Fowler and Dea Proffitt. What a great crew! The “Junk Food Walk” was a hit; thanks to all the parents who brought in their item or items. To the two board members, Kim Cutsforth and Susie Thompson, who consumed food at an hourly rate and kept warm with their lit tle ole space heater... thanks for your countless hours of volunteer work and the enthusiasm of mak ing this fund raiser work for the DayCare. Thanks to Sue, also, for donating the prizes for a third year. We all appreciate that! A replacement will never be found for my Daddy, but one man I can always count on for the “he can never say ‘no’” handy-man jobs is Dave Fowler. What a guy! Great ideas and helpful hands have come in handy the last three years. We have been saved from rain and now snow with Dave's expertise work. Got this... got that? I'm sure he made a dozen trips to help us get going and get gone. We appreciate you, Dave! I know working with a lot of jumpy women isn’t always fun. We think you’re great! Last, but not least, my staff. Dawn Boor, Ann Jones, Emily and Meaghan Unruh, Ashley Col lette and Danielle McDowell. We did it... It’s over... plan for next year. You were great! What peo ple may not realize is that your boss is psychotic and makes you volunteer your time to keep the kids happy. Thanks for getting together and working as a team. You all did great... sorry, “no raise”. Thanks to the community and visitors for attending the Kids Kamival and making it the suc cess that it was. Heppner DayCare/Preschool ____________________ 4-10-lc The Heppner Merchants and Chamber hope a great laugh was had by all at the first Merchants April Fool’s Basketball Tourna ment. Jim Wishart, what a great idea you shared! Sharon Harri son, Doris Brosnan, Pat and Tr- ish Sweeney took the idea and skipped with it! Thank you “athletes, cheer leaders and refs”, Dr. Wenberg, John Flaherty, the EMTs and fire men, the pep band, Marty Bran non and Merle Cowett and all oth er “sports” for being willing to make fools of themselves. Spe cial thanks to Frank Halvorsen for announcing. Goodies went home with many spectators - thanks to cake do nors, including the Houwelings at Red Apple. Additional thanks to volunteers at the door, to the band, Heppner High School, Kathy Cutsforth, Klamath First for staffing the concession stand and popping free popcorn, and to Sonja and John McCabe for run ning the hoop shoot during half time. And, crucial to the success, thanks to spectators who came to watch the fools. Oliver Devin, high bidder, took home the very valuable signature basketball. Participation by everyone result ed in funds for the purchase of Christmas wreaths and hanging baskets for the community. Ev eryone was a winner! Next year? ____________________ 4-10-lc Many, many thanks from Cre ative Care Preschool to the many people who made the lone High School dinner theater last week end a success: Jim Raible and his talented cast and crew for a very enjoyable production of “Blithe Spirit” and for their generosity; to all who made jello, baked cookies and sw eated in the kitchen; to Cam, Til and Barbara for helping to serve; and of course to those who bought tickets. I'm trying to talk Jim into making this an annual event - let him know what you think.
