Auxiliary disbands Members o f the Lexington Fire Department Auxiliary recently voted to disband the group, due to a lack of community interest and participation. The group, formed in 1999, has participated in a number of area events, such as parades, food sales and lighting contests, and started the annual Lexington yard sale. Over the years, they have contributed much needed equipment and supplies to the fire department members. “Active members have been few, some of the members currently have health problems, and others in the community have not shown an interest in keeping the group going,’’ according to a group spokesperson. Funds currently in the group’s treasury will remain in the community and are earmarked for various projects. Willow C ro o k .
