DATED: October 30, 2001. VERLIN DENTON Morrow County Sheriff By: /s/ Judy Chastain Deputy Published: November 7,14,21 and 28, 2001 Mid________________ lone Site Council meets By Debbie Radio The lone Site Council, at their Nov. 14 meeting, learned that online computer testing for the third and fifth graders has been completed. The 10th graders took online tests in language arts as well. TTie eighth graders were to test in math Nov. 16. ‘ The architect for the school bond project was to be at the lone School the morning o f Nov. 20 with prelim inary design schematics. Two issues are o f concern with the lone project. The new building will be five feet above the floor level of the current building so that water can flow under it in the event o f a flood. Also some geological core samples show that they will have to dig down about 15 feet for solid ground. The plans currently call for remodel o f the e.xisnng locker rooms in addition to the new locker rooms for the new practice gym. The estimated time o f com pletion for construction is betw een December 2002 and April 2003. Other issues discussed at the Nov. 14 m eeting include: - School Wide Planning: The next step is identifying exactly what is to be accom plished and the establishing goals. There was quite a bit of discussion about measurable goals and analysis o f the tests and whether the goals will be achievable. Members were asked to bring a list o f suggested goals to the next meeting. -Early Dismissal: School will be dismissed on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 12:30 p.m. prior to the Thanksgiving holiday for all students. Basketball games begin on Nov. 27. -Video/TV Project: Teacher Darlene M arquardt spoke with representative from Arlington regarding Arlington High School's TV channel. The program is self funding by the selling o f ads that are run on the channel 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and through grants and donations. The cables are closed circuit, so only people subscribing to cable have access to the channel. It also negates the need for FCC regulations. According to the report, the channel are self-owned and are not required to follow any public access regulations. Arlington has upgraded their system and their older equipment is available for purchase. Sports functions are broadcast live. Initial equipment needed is a modulator and amplifiers, a tv character generator, and presentation software. According to the report, the local cable company is willing and able to work with organizers should they decide to go forward. The site council nominated Marquardt to be in charge o f getting the ball rolling on this project. -Student and School PUBLIC NOTICE M ORROW COUNTY BOARD OF PROPERTY TAX APPEALS NOTICE OF SESSION Notice is hereby given that on February 12,2002," at 9:00 am ., the board o f property tax appeals o f the County o f M orrow, Oregon, will meet to: -Hear petitions for reduction o f the real market, maximum assessed, specially assessed, or assessed value o f property as o f January 1, 2001, or as determ ined under ORS 308.146<5)(a),ORS 348.146(6)(a), or ORS 308.428. -Hear petitions for reduction o f value corrected under ORS 311.208. -H ear petitions for waiver o f penalties for late filing o f real or personal property returns.
