EIGHT - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, January 31, 2001 Hoop Shoot winners listed Pholos by Saudi Matthews Marriage Licenses Winners of the annual Elks Hoop Shoot contest, held January 21 at Heppner High School are as follows: -Eight-nine year old wmners-Kristen VanCleave and Jared Huddleston. -Ten-11 year old winners- Megan Orr and Matt McCabe -Twelve-13 year old winners-Roy Proctor and Cara Kennedy. Boardman Chamber new board , Boardman Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2001 board of directors. At the November election, the general membership of the chamber voted for the following: Debi Watson, president; Mike Dipo, president-elect; Mike Tallman, vice-president; Michelle Erickson, secretary; Karen Pettigrew, treasurer, Lynn Prag, small business representative; Bryan Braun, medium business representative; Loren Mayer, large business representative; and Sandy Holmes, at-large representative. Also on the board of directors is Irma Torrez, representing Riverside High School as high school liaison. Outgoing members include Arlene Walters, Jim Hollandsworth, Dr. Robert Boss, Mindy Binder, Larry Smythe and Joe Peck. The board is made up of local business representatives and individuals who are members of the Chamber of Commerce. The positions are all volunteer. Sixth Judicial to hold open house Two local children win contest winners. From the 10 regional winners a girl and a boy were selected as state winners and will receive a SI00 savings bond plus a plane nde with one adult to the next quarterly board meeting of the foundation. The other eight winners will receive a scenic plane ride in their area. During the past three years the contest has been sponsored by the 1600 membership of the Oregon Pilots Association, over 500 Oregon school children have learned more about the "excitement of general aviation." said a news release. Two local children were selected winners in the Fall 2000 Oregon Pilots Association's Aviation Safety and Edcuation Foundation art poster contest. Regional winners were Luke Basile, Heppner, and Jessica Mundy, Imgon. The contest asked Oregon school children ages eight through 16 to submit their idea of the theme "Flying My Plane to Adventure." Entries were received from 20 Oregon cities with five boys and five girls selected as Refreshments will be served on the third floor public meeting Room #316. Welcome presentations will be held in Room 316 beginning at 2 p.m. by Presiding Judge Rudy M. Murgo and District Attorney Chris Brauer. Tours will be conducted at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. Lasagna feed set at game Friday A lasagna feed will be held this Friday, February 2, at Heppner High School during the Heppner vs. Umatilla basketball game. The dinner will be held from 4:30 p.m. until halftime of the boys' varsity game. Jan. 23. Natalie McElligott led the Cardinals with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists. Meghan McCabe followed with six points and six rebounds. Tracy Griffith and Jeanette Brantley also added six points each to the lone score. Emily Key added three points and was a nuisance to the Tigers w hen she grabbed a total of eight possessions. Eva Chitty contributed two points in the first quarter and did an outstanding job Boardman will honor those who made Boardman a better place to live and work in 2000 at the annual Community Awards Banquet on Friday, Feb. 2. The banquet, open to anyone who purchases a ticket, will again be held at the Riverfront Center, Two Marine Drive in Boardman. The event will include musical entertainment throughout the evening. Boardman area businesses and organizations will sponsor and decorate tables to promote their business and celebrate Valentine's Day. A wide variety of auction items will be available to bid on during two auctions-a silent auction and another featuring Ray Fox, a local auctioneer. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. which will provide a time to view the table decorations and auction items, or visit the no-host bar. Dinner will be a choice of chicken cordon bleu or baked ham, served at 7:30 p.m. The Outstanding Boardman Educator. Business Person and Citizen of 2000 awards will be presented following the dinner. The auction will conclude the evening with proceeds benefiting the Boardman Chamber of Commerce and its community •t I improvement projects. Only 180 tickets will be sold, so those planning to attend should get theirs early. Tickets are $15 each if purchased in advance and $17 the day of the banquet, if still available. Tickets are for sale in Boardman at the Boardman Chamber of Commerce, Umatilla Electric Co-op. Allen has released the following report: George Michael Coover plead gulty to false application of resident bear tag. He was sentenced to 24 months' bench probation and ordered to not hunt or angle within the state of Oregon for two years and pay $364 in fines and assessments. Charles Eugene VanGorder, III, plead guilty to Assault IV. He was sentenced to incarceration with the local supervisory authority for Morrow County for 90 days, suspended on the condition that he complete 18 months’ probation, have no offensive physical contact with the victims, perform 80 hours community service, complete anger management and alcohol packages and pay $684 in fines, fees and assessments. Boardman plans community awards banquet, auction The Sixth Judicial District (Umatilla and Morrow counties) and the Umatilla County District Attorney's Office invite the citizens of Umatilla and Morrow Counties to an open house to tour the newly-completed facilities on the second and third floors of the Umatilla County Courthouse, 216 S.E. 4th Street.
