When the dust settled at Ontario. Heppner's Ryan Matteson was holding the boys' all-around title and two event championships. In the steer wrestling, Matteson downed his steer in 4.67 to win the event. Team roping action saw him teamed with another Heppner resident, Blake Knowles, and turning in a time of 7.92 for top honors. Knowles also turned in a 16.7 in the calf roping for ninth place. Joe Irzyk of Moro took third in steer wrestling with a 12.16. Spray's Andy Richardson spurred a 55 in the bareback riding for sixth place. Condon's Marne Wilkins placed in two events, taking second in breakaway roping with a 3.61 and fourth in pole bending with a 21.498. Also placing in the pole bending was Tracey Griffith of lone, in sixth with a 21.634. Lacey Matteson, Heppner, took 81 in the barrel racing with a 18.519. Other familiar names in the top places include Roseburg’s Nataly Tatone, who took girls' all- around honors by winning the barrel racing with a 20.787 and the pole bending with a 20.787. Tatone also placed third in the breakaway roping with a 3.67, second in girls' cutting with a 71 and 10th in goat tying with a 10.87. Jessica Tatone placed eighth in breakaway roping with a 4.58 and seventh in girls cutting with a 65. Liz Bowerman. Prineville. placed fourth in girls’ cutting with a 69. Jessica Tatone rode to seventh in girls cutting with a 67. Jome Nash turned in a 21.818 in pole bending for second place while Liz Bowerman took eighth with a 22.395. Bowerman also placed third in girls cutting with a 72. Union's Blake West took the saddle bronc riding championship with a 70 ride. John Osbum of Monument took seventh in the team roping with a 23.44. Rodeo action moved to Baker City where Marne Wilkins turned in a 17.995 for seventh in barrel racing and took a broken barrier penalty for a 13.12 in the breakaway roping for eighth place. lone was represented by Tracey Griffith, who stopped the clock at 21.919 for fourth place in pole bending, and Katie Bacon with a 17.973 in barrel racing for fifth place. Lacey Matteson took fourth in breakaway roping with a 4.34. Steer wrestling action saw Joe Irzyk in third with a 15.7, Blake Knowles fourth with a 17.65 and Chris Irzyk in fifth with a 26.57.
