Greg Sweek, manager of the Columbia River Enterprise Zone, noted for the court proposed boundary changes in the zone. Sweek also voiced concern about problems with some computer programs. The court discussed a right-of- way on a Boardman property; appointed CAPECO as sub grant recipient for the Work Force Investment Act; approved eight refunds by the tax collector; approved payment to the Association of Oregon Counties of a special assessment on the Forest Management Issue; and approved the use of the special transportation garage in Heppner during the St. Patrick's Day celebration. We can’t always provide the news media with information about what the task force does so now when you see the van you will know exactly what is occuring” said Sheriff Denton. Policy Board Chairman Sheriff Verlin Denton presented a plaque and certificate of thanks to Jawn and Bryan Stockdale. owners of Spe cial Protection Incorporated of Hermiston. The Stockdale’s gen erously donated a 1979 Ford Van to the BENT Drug Task force to be used as a raid van and mobile command center. BENT Policy Board members honored the two Stockdale broth ers for their donation and ex pressed their appreciation to the two members of the Hermiston Community for the generous do nation. The task force used drug forfeiture funds in the amount of $9000 to retrofit the van to use in the two counties of Morrow and Umatilla. The van is marked with the BENT logo and will soon be seen working in both counties. Cardinal JV teams host Heppner The lone Cardinal TV teams hosted Heppner on December 9. lone men conquered the Heppner Mustangs 51-45. Heppner’s de fense didn’t stop Adam Neiffer. Neiffer drove through the middle on more than one occasion to score a total of 21 points for the Cardinals. Neiffer also contributed ten rebounds and mugged four balls from the Mustangs. Dustin Flaguewood had 11 points for the lone squad and blocked one Heppner shot. Dylan Pettyjohn led the Cardinal team with nine steals and also grabbed ten rebounds in the game. Jeremy Rietmann was the leading rebounder for lone with 11 rebounds, blocked one shot and also dropped in eight points for lone. The lone JV girls defeated Heppner in a tight game, 27-23. Heppner’s Jessica Gutierrez suc cessfully canned three shots from the three point area in the first half before lone was able to shut her down. Jennifer Thompson was the leading scorer for the Lady Car dinals with ten points, followed by Kristina Powell with eight points for the lone team.
