S IX - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, October 20,1999 Trash can donated to city Twice Upon a Time, the local bookseller in Heppner, has donated funds to purchase a decorative trash can for downtown Heppner. Doris Brosnan, owner o f the store, expressed concern that there were insufficient trash cans for all the activities held downtown. During Saint Patrick’s Celebration, for instance, she noted that there was not a trash can visible anywhere from a location by the Post Office. When Brosnan approached the city about getting more trash cans downtown, she was informed that the $ 188 price tag for the cans kept the city from buying many more. The city has limited funds in the budget she was told, and could only purchase a couple receptacles each year. She then offered to Obituaries donate sufficient funds for the city to purchase another container, "Perhaps if more business owners would make tax deductible donations to purchase decorative trash containers, it would help to keep the downtown clean and beautiful." she stated. Thanks to Pas tor Glenn and Phyllis Anderson and the members o f Lexington Baptist Church; it has been a plea sure to fellowship and worship our God together. Thanks to the Unruh family, the best neighbors we have ever had. Thanks also to the great crew at the post office: Jeri, Barbara, Mike, Shari, Vicki, and at Lexington, Phyllis and Candace. Any boss would be en vious to have a crew like you. To the library gang, Tony, Dorthy and Deborah, thanks for an enjoy able four years. To Claudia, Bob and the rest of the Chamber board and members, I have learned much from you and have enjoyed your friendships. To Jerry, Bob and the City Council and crew, the six years I served as a City Councilman was both pleasant and stress-free. To my many cus tomers, there will never be any better, no matter where we go. I could fill up the paper with names of people here that have meant so much to us. Heppner is a can-do commu nity and I hope that attitude has rubbed off on us as we move to other areas. In any other commu nity, the mill would have closed down several years ago. In any other community, we would no longer have a hospital. In any other community, the town would be dying. Instead, this community looks to see what can be done and then goes out and does it, instead of just letting things happen with out a finger raised, as is the case with so many other communities. Heppner will always be a part of us and we feel we are not los ing our friends, we will just see you a little less frequently. We will return many times to visit, Lord willing, and we hope that as you journey our way, you will make an effort to stop in at Nyssa and say hi to us as well. Thanks again, Mike, Nancy, Janmcka, Jessica and Cory McGuire ___________________ 10-20-lp I want to thank my relatives and friends that came to tny 9Qth birthday party.
