Chamber Chatter By Claudia Hughes, Cham ber Manager As the sun broke through to melt the snow, 50 plus Chamber members ventured out to attend the annual Chamber o f C om merce luncheon at the Episcopal Parish last Tuesday. Kicking o ff the event was music by “Flute Q.” We hope the community will hear more from these talented ladies. You had to be there to get the full benefit o f the "Gary Awards." O utgoing Chamber president Gary Marks honored a number o f individuals instrumental in the success o f the Main Street project with “unique” awards, bringing roaring bursts o f laughter from all present. Also, more “kisses” (the large chocolate kind) were pre sented to some special people by the Chamber director. It definitely took a whole community to pull it off. The Chamber annual “Hats O ff’ awards were presented by in co m in g p resid en t M ike McGuire to Chamber members Archie Padberg, and to Tom and Jem Sly for making a difference in Heppner through their out standing volunteer efforts. It was a lucky day for Ray French, recipient o f the Lifetime Achievement award. He also won the Chamber member luxury va cation tnp. The “hard hat vaca tion” winner was Rick Paullus. A reminder to all area citizens- pick up a Chamber survey at the Post Office, complete it and drop it in the drop box provided. This will assist the Heppner Chamber in its 1998 goal setting on Friday, Jan. 30.
