Heppner GAZETTE-TIMES Nothing can exist without the earth U.S.P.S 240-420 Historical Society has quarterly meeting By Delpha Jones The quarterly meeting o f the Morrow County Historical Soci ety was held at Beecher’s Cafe on Saturday, Feb. 22, with a noon lunch. Present were Katherine Hosk ins, Don and Donna Eppenbaugh, Ruth McCabe, Jean Nelson, Pat Wright, Harold and Edna Peck and Delpha Jones. The business meeting was held following lunch. A report was heard concerning the cemetery project. Headstones have been knocked over and have fallen over. The project was tabled until more information is available. Pat Wright gave a report on the landscaping o f the fountain area near the rodeo grounds. Wilbur Jack so n is c h a irm a n o f th is project. Trees and shrubs have been planted and weeds cleaned. Some o f the trees are ornamen tal. Don Eppenbaugh reported on the bicentennial meeting on the Lew is and C lark e x p ed itio n . There will be 14 different loca tions for signs showing the trail. The project is planned to be fin ished in 2003. He also reported that the old school building in Irrigon is being used as a city hall. Plans are be ing made for a display o f books and pictures o f the area. Anyone who has something for this project may contact Donna Eppenbaugh. The Rainbow Riding Club is making plans for a covered arena to be used by the handicapped and others. It was an n o u n ced th at the Chronicles Committee has a new member, Dons Brosnan. Anyone who has stories and articles for the Chronicles should contact the committee now. The Chronicles will be ready for sale at the an nual meeting in October.
