They moved to Hepp ner in 1979 when the mill in Kinzua closed. Jiggs worked for Guy Van Arsdale and then for Morrow County Grain Grow ers. Now semi-retired, he spends most of his spare time fishing. Rita works in the deli section of Central Market. The couple have five children, son Vic and his wife Beckie, Prineville, son Joe and his wife Robin, Bend, son Ron and his wife Ginger, Heppner, daughter Sarah Riney and her husband Dave, Condon, and daughter Cindy Jarvis and her husband Mark, Bend, and 10 grandchildren. An open house reception for Jiggs and Rita Bowman of Heppner, in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary, will be held Saturday, August 31, at 6:30 p.m. at the Heppner Elks Club. The reception will be hosted by their children. Rita Rose Correa was born February 8, 1928, to Joe and Sarah Correa, Echo. She at tended school in Echo and graduated from Echo High School in 1946. Homer "Jiggs" Leo Bowman was born July 14, 1924 to Charlie and Esther Bowman, Kelso, WA. He attended school in Kelso until his senior year, when he moved to Echo, graduating from Echo High School in 1943. Jiggs first saw Rita when he was shingling a roof and she was on her horse, moving cows to pasture. The couple agree Market Report* that the attraction was im mediate and mutual. Tuesday, Aug. 27 Jiggs served in the military Soft White from 1943 to 1946. After his Aug.-Jan *5.18 discharge, the couple were Barley married September 7, 1946, in Aug.-Sept. *132 Rita's grandmother's backyard.
