EIGHT - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, February 21, 1996 Arts and Crafts Club to meet Feb. 28 Morrow County Creative Arts and Crafts Club will meet Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the bowling alley for lunch at 1 p.m., with the meeting follow ing at 1:30 p.m. Plans will be made for the arts and crafts sale to be held St. Patrick's Day, and members are reminded to bring two dozen cookies as well as their arts and crafts items to Les Schwab that morning. The club will sponsor a workshop June 6-8 by Bob Walton, renowned Washington pallette knife artist. Both day and night classes will be avail able. The club will also bring in Betty Crosswhite, well known for her English cottages in oil paints, April 26-27. She will hold day and evening classes, as well as one-day classes. Beginners are welcome at both classes and members of the club will share their supplies. Anyone interested in the classes should talk to Betty Mills. Engagement M c C a rl— Brosnan Leah Cooper McCarl and Damon Brosnan, both of Heppner, announce their engagement. Leah's parents are Glenn and Susie Cooper of Heppner. Damon's parents are Dan and Doris Brosnan of Heppner and his grandparents are Marian Brosnan of Heppner and Millie Mor ris of Hermiston. Leah graduated from Heppner High School in 1986 and is a graduate of the Pendleton College of Hair Design. She is cur rently the owner/operator of Hair I Am, a hair salon in Heppner. Damon, a 1986 graduate of McKay High School in Salem, graduated from Oregon State University with a business agri culture degree. He is currently employed at the Thompson Ranch. The couple plan a May 18 wedding at the Reno Hilton Chapel. A reception will follow at the Heppner Elks Club June 1. Sheriffs Report The Morrow County Sheriff's office in Heppner reports dis patching the following business during the past week: Feb. 13: Morrow County deputy began an investigation of a possible theft from a Irri- gon residence; Morrow County Sheriff's of fice dispatched the Heppner ambulance to the Heppner Ele mentary School for a juvenile with an injury. The patient was transported to Pioneer Memo rial Hospital in Heppner; Morrow County deputy responded to Irrigon for an ani mal complaint; Morrow County deputy responded to Bake's Restaurant in Irrigon for a juvenile com plaint. Feb. 14: Morrow County deputy began a theft investiga tion from an Irrigon resident; Morrow County deputy responded to the Lexington area for a civil dispute; Morrow County deputy responded to the Irrigon area for an assault that had occur red. No arrests were made. Feb. 15: Morrow County deputy responded to Irrigon for a report of harassment; Morrow County Sheriff's of fice dispatched the Condon ambulance and Fire Dept, to Highway 206 milepost 49 for a two vehicle accident with five involved parties and two in juries. One patient was trans ported to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton; Morrow County deputy took a report of threats on Fourth Street in Irrigon; Morrow County deputy responded to Irrigon for a re port of a disturbance; Morrow County deputy took a report of theft of tools on Oregon Street in Irrigon; Morrow County deputy responded to the Irrigon area to handle a civil problem; Morrow County deputy responded to an audible alarm at Oregon Farm Management. The deputy was unable to lo cate anything; Morrow County deputy responded to the Irrigon area for a report of vandalism done to an abandoned building. The report was unfounded; Morrow County deputy responded to a disturbance call at the Riverview Trailer Court in Irrigon; Morrow County deputy responded to Route One in Boardman for a disturbance. Feb. 16: Morrow County deputy took a report of a miss ing floor machine, valued at $600, from the Morrow Coun ty Fairgrounds; Morrow County deputy responded to the lone area for an animal problem; Morrow County deputy took a theft report from ^Brown's Truck Stop in Irrigon. A bank bag with $3,200 was missing; Morrow County Sheriff's of fice dispatched the Heppner ambulance to Willow Street. One fem ale patient was transported to Pioneer Memo rial Hospital in Heppner with a head injury. Feb. 17: Morrow County deputy responded to the Irri gon area for a report of illegal dumping; Morrow County deputy responded to Fourth Street West for a civil matter; threat being made; Morrow County deputy responded to the Irrigon area for a report of a theft; Morrow County deputy responded to Irrigon for a re port of a stolen saddle; Morrow County deputy responded to 1-84 milepost 162 for a motorist assist. Feb. 19: Morrow County Sheriff's office dispatched the Heppner Fire Dept, for a struc ture fire in Heppner. Other buildings were also threatened; Morrow County deputy responded to the Boardman area to assist the Boardman Police Dept, with a family dis turbance; Morrow County Sheriff's of fice dispatched the Arlington ambulance to 1-84 milepost 128 for an injured adult. No trans port was made; Morrow County deputy responded to Boardman residence to assist the Board- man Police Dept, with a do mestic violence call; Morrow County Sheriff's of fice dispatched the Heppner Fire Dept, to a flare-up of an earlier structure fire; Morrow County deputy responded to assist a motorist on 1-84 milepost 176. Gun club meets Harvey Childers shot a perfect 25 to lead the 16-yard event at the Morrow County Gun Club shoot Sunday, Feb. 18. Jeff Cutsforth shot a 24 for second place. Pat Lovgren broke 24 targets from the handicap distance to win that event. Cutsforth, Mike Adams and Tim Hedman tied up second with 22 each. Three Annie Oakleys were shot, with Childers taking two wins and Cutsforth taking one. The gun club will be open at noon Sunday, Feb. 25, for another afternoon of trapshoot ing. Chamber Chatter By Claudia Hughes, Chamber Manager St. Paddy's Day is but a month away. The brochures are now available. Each and everyone is encouraged to mail them out to friends and rela tives and to take them along on conferences and to out-of-town meetings. The Chamber had a preview of the Saturday night musical show "The Irish Cowboy," featuring the Blue Mountain Barbershop Chorus from La Grande. Tickets are sure to disappear rapidly. You won't want to miss this story of a young man from Ireland who comes to Heppner to be a cow boy. There's something for every one this year, from researching your Irish heritage at the museum, to volkswalking, entering the "w e e" bit o'fun with Porta-Potties on the run race or bidding on an old claw legged bathtub during the auc tion, not to mention lots of Irish music, food and shenanigans.
