TWO - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner. Oregon Wednesday, July 19, 1995 Community booths back at fair The Morrow County Fair is bringing back a favorite attrac tion, the community booths. Last year, the fair did not have a designated spot for them, but after hearing peo ple's comments about missing the booths, they will again be across from the photography department, said LaRae Kindle, fair secretary. The fair needs help in filling Playground equipment at day care M cCoys to celebrate 50th anniversary up the booths. The divisions are church organizations, garden clubs, youth organiza tions, community service and social organizations and farm organizations. The deadline to prepare the booths is August 14 by 8 p.m. Contact the Fair O ffice, 676-9474, for more information or to reserve a booth spot. Warren and Frances McCoy Warren and Frances McCoy of Irrigon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 22. A reception in their honor will be held at the Irrigon Columbia View Church from 2-4 p.m. Warren and Frances were married March 6,1945, in Walla Walla, Washington, while War ren was home on leave from the U.S. Navy. They spent their honeymoon in Boston where Warren was stationed. The McCoys moved to Ir rigon in September 1945. War ren worked at the Umatilla Ar my Depot and in 1953 transfer- Tourism contest winners announced Juanita Hawkins "stole the show" in the scenic landscape category, taking both first and second places with her "Board- man Sunset on the River" and "Wildlife at Dusk" entries in the recent photo contest spon sored by the Morrow County Tourism Committee. Third place was awarded to Kathy Eyster's "Wildflowers", with honorable mention to go ing to Nancy Myers for her "Bird's Nest Beside the Canola Field". In the community event category, Pat Edmundson plac ed first for her "Leprechaun and Friend" entry and second place went to Kathy Eyster for the "Cinco de Mayo Dancer". "The public may view the winning photos during the Morrow County Fair in the Morrow County Tourism Booth," says Joe Hopkins, vice president of the Morrow Coun ty Tourism Committee and photo contest chair. Kim Logan makes - . at Lewis & Clark Kimberly Logan, daughter of Buzz and Jeanette Logan of lone, has earned a 4.0 grade point average during the last semester of this school year. She is attending Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, where she is majoring in elementary education. Upon graduation in December, she will be certified to teach K-8th grades. Currently, she is employed at The Fashion Bug in Lewiston. No G ED tests at B M C C in Aug. Blue Mountain Community College announces there will be not be any GED testing during the month of August. Bridal Tables Ninety-eight people attended the senior meal July 12 with six meals home delivered. Members of the Episcopal Church serv ed. Marion Brosnan won the meal ticket. The Senior Center Board met following the meal. Blood pressures were taken before the meal. The menu for the birthday dinner, July 26, will be sliced ham, augratin potatoes, spinach, hot rolls and pineapple upside-down cake. Members of the Christian Church will serve. One table of cards was in play Friday afternoon. No movie was shown on Sunday. July 14, 19 seniors went by bus to dinner at the Milton- Freewater meal site, where they enjoyed the music, singing and a meal. Before returning home, they toured Old Fort Walla Walla. The bus will leave for Gonty's cabin at Penland Lake at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 23, for the potluck picnic. There are still seats available so sign up at the Senior Center office, bring your favorite food and lawn chair and join the fun. Ed Baker will be the bus driver. There are still a few seats left for the bus trip to the Tri-Cities Village at Canyon Lakes, July 28. Both are active in church and community ac tivities. The couple have three children, Roger "M ike" McCoy of La Grande, Susan Simmons of Pendleton and Debbie Bums of Irrigon, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family requests no gifts.
