March 21: Morrow County Sheriff's office responded to Columbia Jr. High in lrrigon for a report of a possible juvenile problem; Morrow County deputy responded to a residence in Ir- rigon for a report of tires slashed; Morrow County deputy made contact with a resident in Boardman for assistance with an animal problem; Morrow County deputy responded to a residence in Ir- rigon for a family disturbance; Morrow County deputy responded to the lrrigon area for a disturbance; Morrow County deputy ar rested Victor Calvillo, 24, Boardman, on a Possession of a Forged Instrument warrant out of the Boardman office. March 22: Morrow County deputy responded to Kunze and Peters Rd in Boardman for a report of a suspicious vehicle; Morrow County deputy took a report of a stolen vehicle from Heppner. James Clyde Foster, 23, Springfield was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was lodged at Umatilla County jail; Morrow County Sheriff's of fice dispatched the Arlington Fire Dept, to Oregon Waste in Arlington. Turned out to be a false alarm; Morrow County Sheriff's of fice dispatched the Boardman ambulance to Oregon Potato in Boardman. One person was transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital with injuries; Morrow County deputy re sponded to SE 13th in lrrigon for a report of Criminal Mischief. March 23: Morrow County Sheriff's office dispatched the Fossil Fire Dept to the Fossil grade school for an alarm soun ding. Alarm was false; Morrow County Sheriff's of fice dispatched the Heppner Fire Dept, to assist with a semi on Heppner Hill that had spun out and was blocking traffic. Obituary Lloyd W. Morgan Funeral service for Lloyd W. Morgan was held Monday, March 27 at the United Church of Christ in lone. Vault inter ment was at High View Cemetery in lone. Mr. Morgan, 80, of lone, died Thursday, March 23, 1995 at Heppner. He was born Aug. 1, 1914 at Morgan to Earl and Mattie Palmateer Morgan. He grew up in the lone area and attended lone schools, graduating from lone High School. On Sept. 3, 1941 he married Mildred Lundell at Stevenson, WA., He loved the land and farmed a ranch northeat of lone where he and his wife still liv ed at the time of his death. He enjoyed watching high school sports and followed the local teams faithfully. In 1986, he was recognized as lone's No. 1 fan by the lone Student Body. He was a member of the lone Booster Club, Willows Grange 672 and a life member of the Oregon Wheat Growers League and Heppner Elks Club 358. Survivors include his wife, Mildred at the home; son Virgil of lone; daughters Judy David son of Portland, Geraldine Paavola of Scappoose and Bon- ni Ball of lone; 10 grand children and seven great grandchildren; sisters Mildred Eubanks of Heppner and Earlene Sanders of Portland; and a brother, Bill of Long Beach, CA. A brother, sister and son preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lloyd Morgan Athletic Memorial Fund, c/o Bank of Eastern Oregion, lone Branch, or to Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner, directly or through Burns Mortuary, Box 289, Hermiston, OR 97838. It's a great opportuni ty to bring a smile to someone's face, a co-worker, a friend, a volunteer, your spouse, those people who make a difference in your life. Speaking of green, the St. Patrick's celebration wrap-up finalization meeting has been scheduled for Monday, April 17, exactly one month after the fact. By that time all expenses should be accounted for and the community will have had an opportunity to evaluate this years celebration. Many people worked very hard and are to be commended for following through with a job well done.It isn't possible to think about the weekend without thinking of the Taylor family and the loss for the lone community. Our hearts go out to this family, their strength, courage and the admirable way they've handl ed their tragedy. They continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Next week is the chamber business meeting where all en tities and organizations are en couraged to update the mem bership on what's happening in Heppner and Morrow County.
