P rin ter David and April Hilton-Sykes, Publishers Letters to the Editor Care for animals in winter months To the Editor: My youngest aunt once ask ed my beloved grandmother, “ Has it come to this that I must work?" She assured her it had. 1 got to thinking today about how cold it is out there for our two legged, and four legged friends, and that yes, it has come to this, that special things must be done to help them through the cold winter months, as we do in the other months. In the cold winter months, our animals or birds cannot drink if the water is frozen over, and need to have warm water poured in their water bowls several times a day, as they need water as much now as they do in other seasons. They will burn up their fat Obituary Judy L. Groshens A memorial potluck dinner for Judy Lee Groshens will be held at the I.O.O.F. Hall in Lexington on Friday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. Mrs. G roshens, 53, of Umatilla, died Monday, Nov. 21, 1994 at Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Hermiston. She was bom June 5, 1941 at The Dalles to Burt Ivan and Eunice Irene Irvin Darnielle. She married Victor Lee Groshens on April 29, 1960 at Heppner. She came to Umatilla four years ago from Baker City where she had lived for four years. She was also a resident of Bend for five years and of much more rapidly in the winter than they do in other months. So, they need to be fed quite a bit more. I hope your animals all have warm places to sleep, and to get out of the cold. I remember how nice and cuddly the barn was for the cows and horse, and of course the cats. Our dog always had the well made dog house, with heat, and a blanket or two, and a carpet. It hurts to be cold, lonely, thirsty and too cold for the children or the rest of the fami ly to come to see them. They too need love and care. (s) Roberta Davis Pioneer Humane Society PO Box 361 Hermiston, OR 97838 Heppner for 18. She enjoyed spending time with her gandchildren. Survivors include sons, Scott of Bend, Gregory serving with the U.S. Navy at Kingsville, Texas and Harry of Pendleton and three grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Groshens family through Bums Mortuary, of Hermiston, PO Box 289, Hermiston, 97838.
