Marks City Recorder Published: January 19, 1994 By Claudia Hughes, cham ber m anager P U B L IC N O T IC E Mother Nature seems to be playing tricks on us. Seems like April with deer and cattle con tentedly grazing on the hillsides, lawns beginning to turn green, two pheasants in battle over a lone female, and 54 degrees at 8:30 a.m. There are probably a few avid golfers visible on the course. However, my calendar says it’s January 18 and time to buckle down on events to come instead of having a bad case of spring fever. One hundred eighty-seven folks crowded into the Elks for the Town and Country banquet, as well-deserving volunteers were honored and some great laughs were shared with the Slob Sisters. We appreciate Kinzua, Jordan Elevator. Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District. Oregon Wheat League. Pendleton Grain G rowers, Cargill, Bank of Eastern Oregon, First Interstate Bank and Morrow County Grain Growers, whose donations helped make the speakers possible. Ad ditional contributions have been pledged. It’s everyone working together, including high school servers and the Garden Club who make this annual event a reality for Heppner. Mark your Calendars for the annual H eppner Econom ic Development Meeting and dinner January 26 at the Heppner Elks. John Huffaker, the regional representative for the Oregon Economic Development Depart ment. will be the featured speaker. It’s time to start thinking green with our Wee Bit ’O Ireland celebration just eight weeks away.
