Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, October 6, 1993 - THREE Engagements Weddings Swanson — Ashbeck Kannard — Leasy Piper — Lynch Teri Piper and Greg Lynch were married on August 14, 1993 at the First Assembly of God Church at Pendleton. Pastor Charles Parker of Pendleton officiated. Teri is the daughter of Mel Piper, Heppner and the late Betty Piper. Greg is the son of Gary and Judy Lynch of Apple Valley, CA. The bride wore a long white satin and lace gown decorated with pearls and lace down the back and a large bow. A matching veil and a pearl necklace, both with bows, and white satin shoes completed her ensemble. Matron of honor was Donna Ball, Heppner sister of the bride. Best man was Wayne Rusk, Hamilton, Montana, friend of the groom. Christy Bourrie, Hermiston, sister of the bride, cut and served the cake. Pam Piper, Heppner, sister-in-law of the bride and Cindy Ken nedy, Lexington, sister of the bride, served punch and coffee. Sheila McDaniel, Hardman, sister of the bride attended the guest book. Special music was provided by Scott Mullner, Heppner and Dana McGuire, Pendleton. Betty Marquardt, Lexington, played the piano and provided decora tions, along with Pam Piper and Sheila McDanief. Plants were donated by Vem Kube’s Sunshine Nursery, Pendleton. The bride graduated from Heppner High School and attended Blue Mountain Community College. She had been employed with the U.S. Forest Service and is now employed with G. Bishop Building Con tracting, Las Cruces, New Mexico. The groom is in his senior year at New Mexico State University. He was employed with the U.S. Forest Service as a fishery biologist. After a wedding trip to Yellowstone National Park, the couple are at home at Las Cruces. Cindy Kannard, Pendleton and Shane Leasy, Long Creek, were married September 11 in an informal ceremony held in the yard of Heppner area ranch home of the bride’s parents Jerry and Patricia Dougherty.. Present for the ceremony were the groom’s parents Dick and Sharon Leasy, Prineville, the groom’s grandmother Mary Leasy, Fox and the bride’s grandmother Marie Steagall, Lexington. The ceremony was performed by Morrow County Clerk Barbara Bloodsworth amid a colorful setting of flowers. The bride wore a two-piece pastel tea-length straight skirt with mat ching long-sleeved fitted jacket trimmed in lace and pearl buttons. Her white accessories included a teardrop pearl necklace and earr ings that were a gift from the groom. Matron of honor Laurie Post, Pendleton, wore a burgundy tea- length dress. The bride and her matron of honor carried long-stemmed roses. The bride’s young daughters were also included in the wed ding party. Haley kannard, 5 Vi, carried the rings in a basket. Her sister Ashley Kannard, 4, was the flower girl. Both girls were dressed in floral print frocks with white collars. The groom wore a lavendar shirt and black pants. The groom’s brother Tracey Leasy, Long Creek, was best man. He wore a burgun dy shirt and black pants. A buffet dinner followed the ceremony. x Serving the three-tiered wedding cake were Sherree Mahoney and the bride’s sister-in-law Dawna Dougherty, both of Heppner. The bride graduated from Heppner High School and attended Walla Walla Community College. She also graduated from the Pendleton College of Beauty. She is currently the claims assistant for the Country Companies Insurance Company in Pendleton. The groom is a self-employed timber worker. He graduated from Long Creek High School. After a honeymoon trip to the Oregon Coast, the couple is at home in Pendleton. The couple will be married November 27 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. McElligott — Zayas L.J. “ Jerry” McElligott, lone, announces the engagement of his daughter, Patricia, to Francois Zayas, Miami, Florida. Patricia’s mother is the late Maryan McElligott. Patricia graduated from lone High School in 1987, Carroll Col lege. Helena, Montana, in 1991 and Creighton University. Omaha, Nebraska, in 1992. She is employed as an occupational therapist at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida. Francois is the son of Carlos Zayas and Hilda Casaneuva. He graduated from Creighton University and Creighton Dental School in 1992. He is employed as a dentist at Miami. The couple plan a November 6 wedding at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Heppner. Fair board seeks theme for fair The State of Oregon has over $36 million in unclaimed accounts for owners who cannot be found. Kid’s banquet puppet show planned at Christian Life Center A kid’s Missions banquet will be held on Friday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Christian Life Center in Heppner. The banquet will feature mini ham burgers, m ini-hotdogs, macaroni and cheese, gelatin dessert, punch and banana splits. Door prizes will be awarded to everyone who attends. A program following the ban quet will be put on by the Jungle Village, a traveling family enter tainment program that features puppetry, ventriloquism and gospel illusion.
