Justin Miller won the pole vault at 13’ breaking his own school record by six inches. Deacon Heideman finished the 1993 track season with his discus winning streak intact. He won the state contest with a throw of 152’11” . Jamie Lovett captured the state title in the girl's discus with a new meet and school record of 117’2” . The girl’s team finished fifth in the meet with 39 points while the boys tallied 35 points to finish seventh. Sixteen tracksters from lone competed at the meet and all returned home with a medal. The 400 relay team of Mac Lovett, Deacon Heideman, Greg Holtz and Brian Holtz finished sixth in 46.64. Jason Proudfoot took sixth in the pole vault at 10’. hurdles in 16.15 and finished sixth in the shot at 41’10 Ryan Halvorsen finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 39’ 11” . The 1600 relay team of Justin Miller, David Wagenblast, Jake Bacon and Jim Logan finished fourth in 3:38.3. For the girls, M elissa McEligott took three third places, jumping 15’ V in the long jump, running the 100 meters in 13.33 and leaping 31 ’2” in the triple jump. She also teamed with April Taylor. Becky Wagenblast and Crystal Minster to take third in the 1600 relay, a new school record by four seconds. Wagenblast finished sixth in the high jump at 4’6” . Taylor finished fifth in the 1500 with a time of 5:30.54. Kim Bedortha took fifth place in the 3000 meters in 13:28.2. “ I was really pleased,” said coach Del LaRue of the meet results. “ Everyone did well. This is the first time that I can remember that everyone came home with a medal,” he added. Wagon Ho’ Fair and Rodeo theme “ Wagon Ho" is the theme this year for the Morrow County Fair and Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo to be held August 18-22. Plans are being made for Wednesday night family enter tainment, featuring a riding cowboy poet, John Bower- mann; cast iron cooking, a style review of vintage clothing and music. The Kid a-ride carnival that was in Heppner for the St. Patrick’s celebration will be at the fair this year. The fair committee would like to hear any ideas or comments to help put on a better fair. The next meeting will be Monday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Morrow County Fairgrounds. Anyone is welcome to attend. plan visitation lone Elementary school will hold its kindergarten visitation on Wednesday, June 2 at 1:30 p.m. Children planning on attending kindergarten during the 1993-94 school year are invited to visit the classroom while parents register their child for school.
