Aarfie /hack Melodrama comes to Heppner and lone ‘‘D irty W orks at the Crossroads” coming Nov. 15 and 24 to Heppner and lone stages, is set in a country garden on the banks of a Connecticut river. This classic gay nineties m ellerdram m er tells in a laughable style the tear-jerking story of Nellie Lovelace, an in nocent country girl played by Aleida Goodyear, of Adam O akhart, the stalw art blacksmith’s son played by Bryce Tucker and of N unro Murgatroyd, the villain from the big city, played by Jim Raible. Munro, the viper has his wife in Ida Rhinegold (Lea Mathieu), the bell of the New Haven music halls, but that does not prevent his pursuing the innocent Nellie to snatch her from the arms of her dying mother played by Chris Burkenbine, whom incidendy, he has poisoned, nor does it prevent his driving Adam to drink, from blackmailing the rich Mrs. Upson Asterbilt (Cyde Estes) or bewit ching her daughter Leonie (Missy Wallace). The music, with Debbie Wryn at the piano, includes a variety of old-time songs such as ‘‘All That Glitters Is Not Gold” and “ Why Did They Dig M a’s Grave So Deep?” “ This is but a sampling of this ‘ridiculous burlesque’,” says director Jane Rawlins.’ Reserved tickets are on sale at Murray’s Drug Store for $3 adults, $2 students or $10 for a family.
