Newspaper Page TextHeppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, August 26, 1992 - FIVE BMCC offers placement test The Blue Mountain Communi ty College Counseling Center will offer an evening placement test session Tuesday, September 1, from 6:30 to approximately 8:30 p.m. The ASSET placement test will be given only to those who have made appointments. The placement test is given to help counselors and advisors assess student ability in reading, writing and math, ensuring that students take the appropriate classes for their skill level. A placement test is required for anyone who has not had prior col lege experience. Following the session, group assessments will be conducted and fall term registration appointments made. The test will be held in the BMCC counseling center and there is a $10 per person charge for the testing service. Regular testings times are Mondays and Thursdays, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appointments are not necessary for the regular test schedule. Correction The Heppner Elementary Kindergarten classes will begin at 8:30 a.m., not at 8 a.m. as incor rectly reported in the Aug. 19 issue of the Gazette-Times. Kindergarten students are assigned to two groups. Red and Blue. Each group will attend from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the designated days. The Red group will attend every Monday and Thursday and every other Wednesday. The Blue class will attend every Tuesday, Friday and every other W ednesday Calenders will be provided to each Kindergartener’s family. Stokes Landing game night set A dinner and game night will be held at Stokes Landing in Ir- rigon August 28. Everyone is welcome. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The charge for dinner is $2.50 adults and $1 for LIST#-92022 HUGHES, MATT A RT 1 BOX 5-A B0AR0MAN children under 12 years, Card games and Scrabble will begin at 7:30 p.m. a ta c o sto f$ l. Refreshments will be served and prizes will be awarded to the win- ners of the games. P U B L I C N O TIC E OF PUBLIC HEARING On Tuesday, September 8, 1992, at 7:00 pm at Heppner Ci ty Hall, the Planning Commission of the City of Heppner will hold a public hearing on a proposed ordinance. The ordinance pro poses to amend Ordinance No. 465, the City of Heppner Zoning Ordinance, to establish a recrea tional vehicle permitting process, and declares an emergency. Copies of the ordinance are available at City Hall for public examination. The public hearing is where deliberation of the Planning Com mission will take place. The Plan ning Commission may recom mend the passage of the or dinance to the City Council. Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed or dinance with the Planning Commission. Members of the Christian Life Center and Mormon Churches served. Marie Steagall won the meal ticket, Anna Ball the door prize. The menu for Sept. 2 is lasagne with meat sauce, tossed salad with carrots, broccoli, French bread, fruit and cookie. Members of the Seventh Day Adventist and Nazarene churches will serve. The Nutri tion Site Committee will meet after the meal. The annual AAA picnic will be held at Hat Rock State Park, Her- miston, Friday, Sept. 11, at 11:30 a.m. The bus will go if enough seniors are interested. Jeannette Town send was chairperson and lots of people contributed by baking pies, cash donations, those who served the pies, or did the telephoning. Others who pledge donations may leave them at the Senior Center Office. The proceeds from the sale will be used to help maintain the center.
