The Heppner Pirates emerged as Willow Creek Little Leagues’ champions as the season came to a close June 25. The Pirates finished with a 12-3 win-loss record to tie the Condon Angels in the standings, but the Pirates beat the Angels, two out of three in head-to-head competi tion, winning the crown. Heppner’s Braves were close behind with an 11-4 record followed by the Arlington Cubs with a 7-8 record. A young and scrappy lone Cardinal team finished 3-12 and the Fossil Rangers brought up the rear with no wins for the season.
