Pirates capture WCLL title

The Heppner Pirates emerged
as Willow Creek Little Leagues’
champions as the season came to
a close June 25.
The Pirates finished with a 12-3
win-loss record to tie the Condon
Angels in the standings, but the
Pirates beat the Angels, two out
of three in head-to-head competi­
tion, winning the crown.
Heppner’s Braves were close
behind with an 11-4 record
followed by the Arlington Cubs
with a 7-8 record. A young and
scrappy lone Cardinal team
finished 3-12 and the Fossil
Rangers brought up the rear with
no wins for the season.

regular season play with South Morrow Coun­
ty IWA Local taking top spot honors losing
one game to Umatilla early in the season.

Columbia Tri-County will host the 1992
Babe Ruth All Stars July 18-22 in Boardman.
The first game pits Columbia Tri-County
against the Hermiston Americans at 10 a.m.
with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. Loser of
the first game plays Sunday at 10 a.m. and
winner plays Sunday at 3 p.m.
