Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, June 24, 1992 - THREE Junior bowlers receive awards Junior and bantam bowlers were presented 56 trophies at an awards presentation held June 17 at Heppner Bowl. One hundred sixty eight bowlers participated in the league. Kids nine and under com pete in the bantam division, 10-14 year olds in the junior division and 15 and over in the senior division. Craig Scott and Jeanette Brantley took first in the boys and girls’ singles bantam division; Shawn Foster took first in boys’ singles in the junior division and Sherry Sieler was first in the girls’ singles junior division. In the all events junior division Mike Schonbachler was first for j the boys and Jayme Hansen was I first for the girls. Eddie Meeks and Michelle McCloskey took first in the bantam division. Mixed doubles trophy winners were Alena Binschus and Chuck Rollis, junior division and Bran di Brantley and Eddie Meek , bantam division. Girls’ doubles winners were Alena Binschus and Shelly Huth, junior division and Michelle McCloskey and Molly Turrell, bantam division. Boys’ doubles winners were Chuck Rollis and Shawn Foster, junior division and Eddie Meek and Kyler Howell in the bantam division. Top teams were: juniors- Mindy Binschus, Keith Scott, Jayme Hansen and Sherry Sieler; bantam-Kelly Paullus, Michelle McCloskey, Eddie Meek . Tournament scratch highs w ere: juniors gam e-Alena Binschus 172 and Chuck Rollis 199; series-Sherry Sieler, 391 and Shawn Foster 541; bantam game-Craig Scott 161, Jeanette Brantley 76; senes-Daniel Jepsen 293 and Michelle McCloskey 210 . Kyler Howell received an ex tra award for a double score of 29-29. Other winners are as follows: Junior division: mixed doubles- second-Sherry Sieler and Eddie Meeks; boys’ singles second- Stanley Cutsforth; all events- Shawn Foster-second; team- Trisha Adams, Sheryl Conklin, Kimberly Hansen and Penny Anderson-second; girls’ singles- Alena Binschus-second; Amber F laiz-third; g irls’ doubles- Melissa Cutsforth, and Amber Flaiz-second; all events-Alena Binschus-second and Shelly Huth-third. Bantam division: mixed doubles Craig Scott and Jeanette Brantley-second; boys’s singles Eddie Meek second; Cory Breeding-third; all events-Cory Breeding-second; girls’ singles Michelle McCloskey-second. The kids’ bowling and trophies were paid for by the adult leagues. The operators of Heppner Bowl, Walt and Ida Foster were presented with a clock in the shape of a bowling ball for their work with the young bowlers. The Pro Rodeo trail is off with last year’s all around cowboy Ty Murray jum ping out to a big lead early in the season. The Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo Committee is also looking for ward to a very good rodeo in this third year as a PRCA show held August 22 and 23 at the Morrow County Fairgrounds. Music will be provided by the Red Bandana Band from Portland. Donny Lan dis will be the rodeo clown and Bob Tallman the announcer, said a committee spokesperson. Irrigon-Shanna Evans. osu Boardman-Carmela Pettigrew, A dinner will be held at Stokes Landing Senior Center in Irrigon on Friday June 26 beginning at 5 p.m. Game night with card games and table games will begin at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to at tend both events. The menu will be turkey pasta salad, fresh rolls, vegetable and dessert, iced tea or coffee. There is a $2.50 charge for adults and $1 for children. There is a sug gested $1 donation for the game portion o f the evening. Refreshments will be available and prizes awarded. The Kate J. Young Lodge of the Degree of Honor will have their annual picnic at the home of Dean and Shirley Connor on Ju ly 7, beginning at 6 p.m. The lodge will furnish the meat. Following her time in lone she will go to Condon for five weeks and the return to her studies. “ Frankly, the book of Revela tion is a mystery to me,” says Rev. Lea Mathieu, “ and I’m sure Beth will shed some light on it.” Rev. Mathieu plans on taking the class and says everyone is welcome. will begin a three-week adult study group to explore the book of Revelation. The group will meet on Tuesdays, June 30, July 7 and 14, from 7-8 p.m. The class will be led by the Rev. Beth Emerich, a doctoral student in New Testament at II- iff School of Theology in Denver. Rev. Emerich is in lone for five University of Idaho Lexington: Bernard P. Lind say, college of agriculture, has qualified for the dean’s list. Bernice Nash received the door prize, Kathryn Hoskins won the meal ticket and guest prizes were receiv ed by Ray Johnson and Clara Jenkins. Clayton Ayers and Ed Haugsver received the Father’s day gifts. The meal site committee elected at the dinner are: Paul Jones, Shirley Haugen. Ruth Bergstrom. Dar rell Vinson. Meg Murray, Harriet Batty, Gladys Connor, Gene Cole, and Mary Goheen. The menu for July 1 will be oven fried chicken, carrots, potato salad, dilly bread and fresh fruit. Members of the Seventh Day Adven tist and Nazarene Churches will serve. The transportation committee met in the senior office Thursday morning June 18. Saturday. June 20, Dot Halvorsen drove the senior bus carrying 11 seniors to Arlington, where they enjoyed the Big River Band Festival.
