Junior bowlers receive awards
Junior and bantam bowlers
were presented 56 trophies at an
awards presentation held June 17
at Heppner Bowl.
One hundred sixty eight
bowlers participated in the
league. Kids nine and under com­
pete in the bantam division, 10-14
year olds in the junior division
and 15 and over in the senior
division.
Craig Scott and Jeanette
Brantley took first in the boys and
girls’ singles bantam division;
Shawn Foster took first in boys’
singles in the junior division and
Sherry Sieler was first in the
girls’ singles junior division.
In the all events junior division
Mike Schonbachler was first for j
the boys and Jayme Hansen was I
first for the girls. Eddie Meeks
and Michelle McCloskey took
first in the bantam division.
Mixed doubles trophy winners
were Alena Binschus and Chuck
Rollis, junior division and Bran­
di Brantley and Eddie Meek ,
bantam division.
Girls’ doubles winners were
Alena Binschus and Shelly Huth,
junior division and Michelle
McCloskey and Molly Turrell,
bantam division. Boys’ doubles
winners were Chuck Rollis and
Shawn Foster, junior division and
Eddie Meek and Kyler Howell
in the bantam division.

R odeo season underw ay
Summer is upon us again and
with it comes another exciting
rodeo season. The Pro Rodeo
trail is off with last year’s all
around cowboy Ty Murray jum­
ping out to a big lead early in the
season.
The Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo
Committee is also looking for­
ward to a very good rodeo in this
third year as a PRCA show held
August 22 and 23 at the Morrow
County Fairgrounds. Music will
be provided by the Red Bandana
Band from Portland. Donny Lan­
dis will be the rodeo clown and
Bob Tallman the announcer, said
a committee spokesperson.

A dinner will be held at Stokes
Landing Senior Center in Irrigon
on Friday June 26 beginning at 5
p.m. Game night with card games
and table games will begin at 7:30
p.m. Everyone is welcome to at­
tend both events.
The menu will be turkey pasta
salad, fresh rolls, vegetable and
dessert, iced tea or coffee. There
is a $2.50 charge for adults and
$1 for children. There is a sug­
gested $1 donation for the game
portion o f the evening.
Refreshments will be available
and prizes awarded.

THRUST ALIGNMENT
One hundred thirty five people attended the senior dinner on June
13. Ten meals were taken out. Bernice Nash received the door prize,
Kathryn Hoskins won the meal ticket and guest prizes were receiv­
ed by Ray Johnson and Clara Jenkins. Clayton Ayers and Ed Haugsver
received the Father’s day gifts. The meal site committee elected at
the dinner are: Paul Jones, Shirley Haugen. Ruth Bergstrom. Dar­
rell Vinson. Meg Murray, Harriet Batty, Gladys Connor, Gene Cole,
and Mary Goheen.
The menu for July 1 will be oven fried chicken, carrots, potato
salad, dilly bread and fresh fruit. Members of the Seventh Day Adven­
tist and Nazarene Churches will serve.
The transportation committee met in the senior office Thursday
morning June 18.
Saturday. June 20, Dot Halvorsen drove the senior bus carrying
11 seniors to Arlington, where they enjoyed the Big River Band
Festival.
