The Topic Club raises money to fund the lone Public Library. The following week, the Topic Club will host a mother’s tea for the lone senior girls and their mothers. Heideman sets discus record By Anne Morter Deacon Heideman’s school record in the discus was the Car dinals highlight at the competitive Carnival of Speed track meet held at Mac-Hi recently. Heideman threw 142’6'/4” for first place in that event. Also placing for the Cards was April Taylor, who was fifth in the 800m in 2:44.3, Justin Miller, fifth in the pole vault at 9’0 ” and the 400m relay team, fifth in 46.59. Deacon Heideman had two se cond places to pace the Cards with a 132’10%” discus throw and a time of 18.14 in the 100 high hurdles. Gabe Garcia was third in the 200m with a time of 24.09 and helped both relays to a third place finish. The 400 relay, consisting of Garcia, Mac Lovett, Brian Holtz and Jake Deputy, finished in 47.46 and the long relay-Garcia, Lovett, David Wagenblast and Jason Proudfoot, was timed in 3:52.52. Ryan Halvorsen was fourth in the tri ple jump, 37’7” and fifth in the long jump 17’11 V i". David Wagenblast was fifth in the discus with a throw of 107’2% ” and placed sixth in the 800m in 2:15.82. Rounding out the scorers were Mike Phillips, who placed sixth in the 1500. in 4:47.22 and Lovett who tied for sixth in the 100 m in 12.45. For the girls Janie Cupps plac ed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 4 ’8” and was sixth in the 300 hurdles in 59.35. April Taylor ran 2:47.9 in the 800, good for sixth place.
