lone Topic Club plans bake sale

The lone Topic Club will hold
its spring bake sale on Friday,
April 17 at the lone City Hall
starting at 10 a.m. An assortment
of delicious baked goods will be
offered just in time for Easter
gatherings. The Topic Club raises
money to fund the lone Public
Library.
The following week, the Topic
Club will host a mother’s tea for
the lone senior girls and their
mothers.
Heideman sets discus record

Deacon Heideman’s school
record in the discus was the Car
dinals highlight at the competitive
Carnival of Speed track meet held
at Mac-Hi recently. Heideman
threw 142’6'/4” for first place in
that event. Also placing for the
Cards was April Taylor, who was
fifth in the 800m in 2:44.3, Justin
Miller, fifth in the pole vault at
9’0 ” and the 400m relay team,
fifth in 46.59.
At Umatilla on Saturday, April
4 the boys team scored 44 Vi
points and placed fourth out of 20

notice is hereby given that a
public hearing will be held for the
purpose of providing all owners
of lands an opportunity to be
heard on matters pertaining to the
budgeting of moneys required to
defray the cost of fire protection
and suppression within the boun
daries of the Eastern Oregon
Forest Protection District and for
privately owned lands in Bkaer,
Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam,
Grant. Harney, Hood River, Jef
ferson, M alheur, M orrow ,
Umatilla, Union, Wallowa,
Wasco and Wheeler counties
within the boundaries of the
Deschutes. Malheur, Mt. Hood,
Ochoco, Umatilla and Wallowa-
Whitman National Forests.

cond places to pace the Cards

and a time of 18.14 in the 100
high hurdles. Gabe Garcia was
third in the 200m with a time of
24.09 and helped both relays to
a third place finish. The 400
relay, consisting of Garcia, Mac
Lovett, Brian Holtz and Jake
Deputy, finished in 47.46 and the
long relay-Garcia, Lovett, David
Wagenblast and Jason Proudfoot,
was timed in 3:52.52. Ryan
Halvorsen was fourth in the tri
ple jump, 37’7” and fifth in the
long jump 17’11 V i". David
Wagenblast was fifth in the discus
with a throw of 107’2% ” and
placed sixth in the 800m in
2:15.82. Rounding out the
scorers were Mike Phillips, who
placed sixth in the 1500. in
4:47.22 and Lovett who tied for
sixth in the 100 m in 12.45.
For the girls Janie Cupps plac
ed fifth in the high jump with a
leap of 4 ’8” and was sixth in the
300 hurdles in 59.35. April
Taylor ran 2:47.9 in the 800,
good for sixth place. Jamie Lovett
was sixth in the discus with a
throw of 82’10%” and Crystal
Minster was sixth in the triple
jump in 26’9 W \

lifeguards for the lone swimming

First Aid card, CPR card and a
Lifeguard Training card. A

lifeguard positions will probably
be less than full time. Application
