Both games were played in lone. The wins set them up to banle the second place team from the East Division in the opening round of the district tournament to be played in Umatilla February 21. With just two games remaining in the regular season the Cards have a 7-2 league record and are 15-3 overall. Friday night, Feb. 7, a scrap- py Wheeler team came to town and got beat by the Cardinals ».28. With Janie Cupps going to town on the offensive rebounds, the Lady Cardinals came to live and turned a one-point game in- to a 16-point game by halftime. Although the Falcons made the Cardinals work for it, lone roll- ed on to record the 50-28 win. Cupps led all scorers with 15 points. Kari Morgan added 12 and April Taylor nine. The Cards held a 4~30 rebounding edge over their shorter opponents with Morgan grabbing nine and Cupps adding seven. Nancy Morter pac- ed the team with five steals and four assists. At the line, they hit just four of 12 for 33 percent. This weekend concludes the regular season with lone hosting Helix on Friday Feb. 14. The seniors will be honored as they play their last home game. On Saturday, they travel to Dufur for a game that will be a preview for District the upcoming Tournament. The • outcome was clear early in the ' game as Ione took a 2~ 7 first quarter lead and a 43-19 halftime advantage. The final score was 70-37. Gabe Garcia led all scorers with 14_ points and Ryan Halvorsen had 11. The teams each ad 37 rebounds with Mike Garrett leading the way for the Cardinals with eight. Garrett also led tbe assi• department with four and Garcia had five steals. Deacon Heideman racked up an ~ v e seven blocked shots in the game. It was a good shooting night for the Cards as they hit 30 of 61 for 49 percent from the floor. At the line, they connected on eight of 15 for 53 percent. The wins assured the Cards of the number-one seed from the East Division in the Big Sky Conference. The Cards outmanned the flu- plagued Wheeler Falcon Friday night in front of a home crowd, 64-27. The Cardinals cruised while the Falcon struggled with HHS class of '93 taking orders for booster jackets The Heppner High School class of '93 will be selling booster jackets at the next two home games, Sat. Feb. 15 and Friday , Feb. 21. Jackets are royal blue satin with a choice of olid tripe on the cuffs and band or olid blue rib- bing to match the jacket . A am- pie jacket may be seen at the games.
