To the Editor: Effective the 15th of December the northern tier of Morrow County, including the com munities of Irrigon and Board- man, became part of Oregon House of Representatives District 57 which 1 represent. (It was formerly part of District 59, represented by Mike Nelson of Baker.) The southern boundary of District 57 in Morrow County is roughly in line with the southern boundary of the Bombing Range, but I must admit that I have some more homework to do on the ex act location. I welcome the citizens of North Morrow County to District 57 and assure you that we are “ open for businsess” . Grandparents are Stacey and Darleen Lovgren, Heppner; Dor thy Wichman, Hillsboro; and Ron Quigley, Baker City. Jasey Shay Riddle-a daughter. Jasey Shay, was bom to Nicole and Terry Riddle of Stanfield, on December 12, 1991 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston. The baby weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz. Grandparents are Susan Rid dle, Pendleton, Bob Riddle and Fred Hamden, both Heppner, Jana Lee Musgrove, Wenatchee, Wa. Great grandparents are Bill and Dorthy Scott and Hattie Hamden, all of Heppner. Teach your children government. The real purpose, of course, was to campaign for reelection using taxpayer money. The emergency board authoriz ed $239,500 to pay for the Governor’s Conversation with Oregon. I don’t object to essential spen ding for legitimate needs of government, but at a time when so many Oregonions are without a job, we could make better use of our limited funds than spen ding them running for re-election. Last Thursday, December 19, our nursing home residents went down to watch the second graders Christmas pro gram. These second graders have been coming to the nursing home to visit the residents for the last two years. We felt the reason for these visits was to make the elderly part of their lives. When you grow older you still need people of all ages to care for and to love. It takes a lot of effort for the residents to attend an outing such as this. So one question comes to mind, what are we telling our children when some people at last w eek’s Christm as program became upset when residents were placed up front, so they are able to hear and see? The parents with video cameras became upset because the residents were plac ed in front of them. Understan ding the fact these parents come early to take these movies of a lifetime of memories, we still need to remember what we are teaching our children about how we welcome and treat the nurs ing home residents.
