Center Heppner Conklin graduates from U of O Ashley Conklin, Heppner, is numbered among more than one thousand degree candidates eligible to participate in the 1991 Universi ty of Oregon summer commence ment ceremony. Conklin received his bachelor of science degree in news-editorial journalism. Among the 1,105 summer term UO degree candidates are 711 slated to receive bachelor’s degrees, 317 who are candidates for master’s degrees, 77 completing doctoral degrees. Hayes, son of Navy Lt. and Mrs. James H Hayes of Heppner, was recently commissioned upon graduation from the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Program at Oregon State U niversity, Corvallis. During each undergraduate semester, Hayes completed naval science courses as well as a full academic schedule that led to a degree. These courses, combined with annual summer training aboard ships and shore installations, serv ed to prepare NROTC graduates for duties and responsibilities of a com missioned officer.
