Fair and Rodeo Supplement to the Heppner Gazette-Times - August 7, 1991 Page FOUR Wranglers hold breakfast Sunday The Wrangler Riding Club will once again put on their country-style breakfast including ham and eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes, coffee and milk at the Morrow County Fairgrounds Sunday. August 18 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Costs for the breakfast is $3 for adults and $2 for children. Everyone is invited to come on out and treat the entire family to breakfast with the Wranglers. This will be his first ap pearance at the Heppner show, which is one of the 10 Northwest cir cuit rodeos sponsored by Wranglers Western Wear. Reared on a ranch in Montana, Harwood was an active rodeo con testant. And in recent years, he has appeared on radio, television and in motion pictures. Officials say that Harwood is one of professional rodeo’s top spokesmen. Aid because he has an in depth knowledge about PRCA contestants and events, he is recognized for his ability to relay the excitement, spirit and thrills of the fast-moving arena activity to the audience. Among other shows throughout North America, Harwood has an nounced a variety of bigger shows including the Days of ‘47 at Salt Lake City, Utah; the Pro Tour finals at Caspar, Wyoming; the Pendleton Round-Up; the Calgary Stampede; the Northwest Montana State Fair Rodeo at Kallispell and the New Mexico State Fair. Morrow County growers are en couraged to bring a sample of their crops in to the fair this year for ex hibition. “The Commercial crops exhibit at the Morrow County Fair is a great way to display and promote your products“, said Fred Lundin, agricultural extension agent in Heppner According the the 1991 Morrow County Fair premium book, grain exhibits must be at least a half a bushel, plus enough extra to allow for cleaning losses. Exhibits should be cleaned before submitting them this year. All grain exhibits will be judged on uniformity, on freedom from foreign material, on soundness and on weight per bushel. Grasses and hay exhibits are welcome as well. Silage should be at least five pounds in a plastic bag. Grass exhibit size varies, depending on the intent of the lot. Alfalfa hay exhibits require three bales produc ed during the current year in the county. Growers are required to sub mit core samples from the exhibit to be analyzed for moisture and crude protein. Morrow County is Oregon's number one potato producer, and it only takes 10 pound of spuds to make and exhibit. Potato producers are encouraged to get their entries in to the Fair. Other possible commercial crops enteries are field com, watermelons, cantaloupe, apples, grapes, popcorn, berries, peas, beans, or any other crop raised in the county. See page 47 in the premium book for sample size and class and lot number.
