There are good times and often higher than usual monthly expenses A holiday spending plan will keep financial stress to a minimum, punts out Carol Bennett, Oregon Slate University Extension agent in Mor row County The first step in developing a holi day spending plan is to estimate holi day costs Put it all on paper travel, special meals, parties, charitable donations, decorations, greeting cards, postage, phone calls and gifts At you estimate the cost of gifts, list the people for whom you usual ly buy gifts, this year's gift ideas, and the approximate costs Next, estim ate the money available for holiday spending How much is available from November and December incomes'How much, if any. are you willing to withdraw from savings'* How much, if any. can you afford to put on credit cards and charge accounts'* Remember when you use credit, you arc spending I WO income, stressed Alice Mills, Morrow.
