Twenty letters were sent to be distributed around town in hopes that he might find her. N ov 15. at the home o f Martha Peterson Frances Carlson assisted Donna and Roland Bergstrom spent three weeks touring Nith the North and South Islands The history o f the islands is very d if ferent from Australia, their nearest neighNir The Maori natives are through! to have come from an island in the Pacific and to have Polynesian background They came in seven canoes and from this came the seven tribes of Maori When the British took over control o f the islands the Maori signed away all their rights to the land for the pro tection o f the British From then on they were full citizens At the pre sent time the tribesmen are trying to get some special considerations because so many emigrants from southeastern countries are coming and the push for land and work is af testing their economy The Bergstroms visited New /«aland in August which would be similar to our February so the weather was rather cool, particular ly on the south island The principal languages spoken are Hnglish.
