Fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys and girls tried out for the
majors last weekend and will hold another practice this Satur­
day before choosing the draft Another Little League project
was getting the field ready for opening season which will start

The Heppner Wranglers Riding
Club held their first spring playday
o f the season on A p ril 9.
Beautiful sunshine weather started
the senes o f Sunday games o ff nght,
followed by a pot luck dinner and an
election o f officers. The newly
elected officers are as follow s Jay
Papineau. president; Janet Greenup
vice p re s id e n t, Susie H is le r
secretary. Judy Barber treasurer.

The Wranglers were pleased to
have a superb turnout this year as 50
riding participants took pan in the
season’ s first playday. The club
would like to extend a welcome to
anyone who is questioning whether
or not to join the Wrangler club The
club now has members coming from
Hermiston. lone and Lexington as
well as Heppner
There w ill be a Wranglers meeting
Wednesday, A p ril 12. at 7:30 p m
at Kate's Pizza. Topics to be discuss
ed are the Sunday play days, commit­
tees. and an awards presentation for
year end award winners

In the nightcap Heppner took an
early lead again as they scored two
runs in the first inning On the
mound was senior Craig Angell who
struck out 13, walked three and hit
one hatter The Mustangs were e r­
rorless in the second game hut only
got five base hits as team sophomore

brought the team to an 8-0 win

The Heppner Mustangs hasehall
team played their second amt third
league hasehall games last Saturday
The Mustangs were 0 - 1 as they lost
to Pilot Kosk 7-3 ca iliet in the
season The Mustangs hosted the
Echo Cougars who arc also winless
in league play.
Heppner started the first game
quickly as junior Russell Britt struck
out the first two hatters and the third
out was a fly hall caught in center-
field At the plate the Mustangs were
also ready as they scored five runs
in the first inning Heppner again
had a solid inning in the fourth as
they again scored five runs Defen­
sively. the Mustangs played very
strong as they only had one error in
