This will involve students from junior high through high school. The band that will be playing is ‘Klue’, a band that Kevin Gutierrez used to play with Members in the band include Scott Arson. Paula J F FA Spuulding, Curt Perry, Tim Hines and Steve Sathcr, from Hcppncr This is a rock and roll band The dance begins Saturday, March 18, at 9 p m and runs until midnight It will be held at the M or row County Fairgrounds The cost is *2 per person and refreshments will be served All students arc invited to come and celebrate St. Pat's Day in Heppner Barney Lindsay placed first in the C o o p quiz contest held in Pendleton on March 4. The contest consisted of a five page test over cooperatives and an oral interview about the can didate’s knowledge of cooperatives Barney was also last year’s district Co-op quiz winner He will now ad vance to the state finals which will take place in Bend at the Oregon EL A Mate Convention Lindsay will receive his State Farmer Degree, an award given on ly to the top 3% of the FFA enroll ment in Oregon. This award is bas ed on the student's ag project, inter view by State FFA officers and the Stale Farmer test, a six page test covering agriculture in general and the FFA organization Barney was the winner in Extem poraneous Speaking at District and Sectional He now advances to Slate in Bend March 17 In Public Speak mg. the contestants are given a choice of three categories from which to choose their topic; Agri- Technology. Blake received his life membership certificate and a plaque for being an active member of the lone Masonic Lodge for over 66 years. He joined the lodge February 1. 1922 and was past Master in 1932 He received his 50 year pm in 1973.
